Akai started shipping its new AMX and AFX MIDI controllers for Serato DJ.
The Akai AFX is a 4-deck controller featuring 8 RGB backlit and velocity sensitive trigger pads with 10 operation modes to trigger samples, hot cues, loops, slicing, etc. You can use the 9 knobs to adjust the effects and EQ kills, and an endless rotary knob allows for navigating in the tracks, pitch bend and macro effect controls. You’ll also find various buttons to launch effects, recording, switch decks, etc. The AFX is Serato DVS-ready with three Absolute, Relative and Internal modes. A digital display is also present to visualize the different settings and the USB port is the only connector available. The controller is compatible with the new Serato Flip feature available via in-app purchase in Serato DJ v1.7.
The Akai AMX is a two-channel mixer featuring two linear faders, a mini InnoFader crossfader with adjustable curve, and various controls: gain per channel, LED meters, 9 knobs for the EQ kills and filter sweeps, 3-band EQ per channel with dedicated filter, cue mix and cue gain for the headphone mixes, push rotary encoder for browning and searching in the library, transport buttons, cue and sync. The AMX also includes a 24-bit / 96kHz audio interface.
Connections on the AMX include a USB port, two RCA line/phono inputs for Control Signal in Serato DJ with NoiseMap signal support (requires the optional Serato DVS pack), RCA audio outputs and a 1/8” headphone output.
Both units are USB-powered and ship with Serato DJ. MSRP are 219€ for the Akai AFX and 289.99€ for the AMX.
