Published on 04/25/11 at 05:33Multi-Effects for Acoustic Guitar (but not) in a brown plastic case that is not beautiful (matter of taste) and did not look solid (objectively). Of course it's all digital connector at one entitled to an absolute minimum, in, out and taken to a foot outside, while the jack and especially not a USB socket: - /
There are the usual compression, delay, chorus and reverb, but also a self-wah, flanger, phaser not often you hear music and acoustic guitars mostly dry simulations.
UTILIZATION
With a simple digital display on 2 characters, one must spend some time on it to get used to the menus, submenus and settings (especially the settings!) But hey, they lent me a Zoom A2 and c ' is the same boat. The reminder of the effects arranged on the housing is very useful but inssuffisant soon as we go into detail.
SOUND QUALITY
Effects "classics" and notement the reverbs are not bad but I linger on the part that concerns us: the acoustic simulations. Compared to zoom, there is less and less choice of models of editable parameters, such as microphone placement on the zoom for example, but I think overall they are more realistic about the korg and we do not take hours to refine the sound. The small downside is the kind of "digital noise" (similar sounding cymbals with a bad mp3 compression) Hyperacute becomes painful if you push the simulation a bit much. Therefore be used to color the sound and not to change the sound of the guitar dramatically. With a folk or electric it passes by cutting the treble (from 8 kHz) on the table or the amp, there will always be enough brightness and air, but with a nylon that's more problematic if wants to add lots of "character" to its base. It is far from the quality of a fishman but I prefer korg simulations to those of the zoom.
OVERALL OPINION
After a month of using this pedal saved my life on a few concerts (notement use in multi-effects "classic" with an electric guitar). It will not ring a Les Paul or a Start like a Martin but offers nice clean sounds. With piezos, I agree with the previous opinion, stating that it re-balances the guitar too dry (like a parlor with an old piezo without preamp). I prefer the Zoom A2 for his part "I plug it sounds" but it still lacks such access and a USB output XLR ... For this whole ugly story of treble, I found a solution:
I added the guitar (brightness), I pass through a discrete compression (or limiter) then in the not too korg cut treble in the EQ. Once the signal in the amp or PA I cut the treble (from 7-8 kHz) 15 dB. It is radical but it works pretty good, I keep the air and shine without that "boiled digital" does come to the grain (this is the case to say) salt.
