Yamaha launches its new DSR active loudspeaker line in conjunction with Summer NAMM 2010, including the full-range DSR112, DSR115 and DSR215, along with the DSR118W subwoofer,

The DSR Series loudspeakers include Integral Digital Tuning, Intelligent Dynamic Control, Powerful Digital Drive and DSP protection.

Integral Digital Tuning is designed to help deliver high definition sound quality via 48-bit digital signal processing. Digital crossover networks use FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters for linear phase response, which is said to provide better sound quality than analog crossovers.

The speakers’ 1300-watt Class-D amplifiers also feature the PFC (Power Factor Correction) switching mode power supply. This design supposedly allows for convection cooling, eliminating the need for fans. DSR speakers also employ DSP and 24-bit AD and DA converters.

The new series offers 3-way fail-safe functions for the power supply, amplifier circuits and drivers. In addition to the speaker line’s transducers, the exterior finish is said to offer military-grade durability.

For more information, visit Yamaha at Summer NAMM 2010, Nashville Convention Center, Booth 618, June 18–20, 2010 or visit www.yamaha.com/press.
