UTILIZATION

I love the sound evoking the Middle Ages or the east, I like much less against certain types white noise effect that is almost unmanageable.

expression as a whole is good, the Arpegiator and friendly, with the ability to create its own arpeggio through the PC. The SH201 is reactive and aftertouch is correct.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for four years and I is not got the Yamaha MM6 earlier (which is classified as a synthesizer but approximates advantage of micro-workstation)

I love being able to create amazing sounds simple way from a simple sine waves. I adore the massive sound that develops.

I do not like the fact that we can not synchronized with the clock of a synth another brand (ie MM6).

80 pages of a book very clear and well written. To believe that this synth was made for beginners like me when I bought it.

I recommend it to all beginners who want to get into synthesizers.

SOUNDS

Afertouch not (at least I have not found). At speed, I think he responds very quickly ..... That said, I do not have a huge experience in the synths.

For realistic sound, it is very hard to find. You really grind in all directions to get to a piano sound "correct", but we never get the sound of a grand piano course! Ditto for real violins or flutes diverse.

The effects are a bit limited, but for me that connects the SH-201 in my Boss ME-50, it is not disturbing. There are 8 types of reverb's and 8's possible forms of delay.

on the other hand, if we talk about electronic sounds, then we're really in the thick of things. This synth was created to make synth sounds: Point bar ...... and he excels in this area.
on the other hand, it should not be more royalist than the king, you will never get the Polysix sounds aggressive, heat a OBX or the roundness of the Juno-60.

Techno sounds are just excellent.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had almost 2 years and I never tire of it. I intend to invest in JUNO-DI for realism are sound, but I still certainly my SH-201 for everything electronic sounds.

Before the purchase, I had a Yamaha PS20 and Pss140 (lol) (hence, not synthesizers) and I tapping on the old analog when I was a child without my interest in sound synthesis so my point of view is quite "distorted" ....... Except for the ease of learning for all beginners in sound synthesis. That, I can testify

If I was starting again I would not hesitate for a second before buying one. A 250-300 euros is a good product. Beyond that, it's a little expensive.

UTILIZATION

The purpose of this synthesis is to provide the analog TRS modlisation intuitive interface level so it's good trs: the knobs are arranged in the circuit on which people wave gn res by the oscillators, to effect processor, through the filter and LFO frquentiel.

I play classical, progressive metal and symphonic black metal, and sounds are really good. We can do all things Obviously, trance, house lol, what a short while, but we want to make a ds of his solo prog very rich, there's Contents, really.

OVERALL OPINION

For sounds I prfre, I admit that the TRS is Supersaw INTERESTED to further sounds (sounds similar to strings, there's no better than the supersaw) otherwise the FB is terrible to Osc sounds unhealthy in the line of Silent Hill, an LFO rglant PW / Feedback is obtained as the sound of rust that rubs mtal cyclically is super creepy .

Another advantage of the keyboard, between a line that can be filtered frquentiellement. I connect my Juno-D above: I put a pure string sound super raliste the Juno-D, and I put a low pass filter between the HS-201 as in rglant it must be cut off from frquence and resonance, and I get an old string sound, like vinyl 70's (but without cracking), and makes way too much for the atmosphere dark and unhealthy. What happiness!

In conclusion I would say that this keyboard is really excellent for its price, there's way to do something pro trs qualitatively, and the sounds are really wide trs to paste many many styles, including the metal.

I tried a little Micron because j'hsitais with Ion (but they had not when I shop in all), taient sounds cooler, although I do 'm not linger long on the trs machine to really see the whole range of sounds it could offer.

In this price range, there are only two in COMPTITE MODELS: HS-201 and the Alesis Ion. The Ion has a reputable offer sounds cooler. It also has a vocoder (it seems pretty average). The HS-2001, it would offer a warmer sound, and between filterable.

Personally, and seen the styles I play (classic, prog metal / black / dark), I prfre sounds hot, and the vocoder m'intresse much less than the line between filterable to change the sound of my Juno-D, so I will take a SH-201 if I had the choice again.

Big advantage of this synth the USB connection sends the South, but also the audio, then it becomes a sound card to your computer! I'm fun to use filtering to filter internal SH201 an MP3 song that runs on winamp! gnial!

UTILIZATION

SOUNDS

It has a synth modlisation, so if you are looking for sounds "ralistes" (12-string guitar or brass ... etc) go your way. Parcontre if you synthse beginners in this keyboard has an approach pdagogique non ngligable!

Cot sounds, there is nothing wrong, a nice ring to it and sometimes even super fat! the only default is the aliasing trs labeled I find the effect "staircase" is pronounced trs especially when playing with the RSO and the cutoff. Made the exprience, the INIT PATCH (D8), open the SAR to half then open the filter really slowly, you hear this "staircase" purely numrique ... but hey, c is the the big diffrence with a real analog, not to mention the price

The effects are just right, rglages pnibles end (multi-function buttons )

UTILIZATION

The config is typical of an analog. It was logically various checks on hand. A little less for the vagueness of the settings if you are a perfectionist. There are faults in machines emulating analog. But beware, this little bike can still surprise you.

I use it for 6 months. I had a lot of machines, and I bought it as a synth extra easy to carry, mainly for the stage to hand analog types of sounds. I was told that for the price I do not risk much, especially it can be used in plug-in configuration studio. UTILIZATION

Most of the settings on the front is great for a novice like me in synthesis. We modify the sounds fast, you do not lose time in the menus.
The ergonomics are pretty well thought in 10min we toured the main keyboard shortcuts, although some are weird (like bank and cancel + level user can then adjust this knob 3 ...)
Regarding the number of adjustable parameters in fact it's almost a good thing: we focus on the basics, I like it. This is a direct instrument that is not encumbered by too many adjustments to the importance dubious but which also lacks a lot of useful tips. I know a lot of parameters not accessible on the keyboard can be changed via the PC, to dig.

Otherwise there is something that shocked me: the pitch knob which has an amplitude of + / -1 octave graduated but GRADUATION AND NOT THIS TEN 12, which is absolutely stupid. So to find a specific interval must be at the ear and counting semitones.

Otherwise the keyboard is a nice stew like Roland does so well on low-end synths but it's still drinking. The Octave buttons are placed very evils but the keyboard is large it is used little.

The presets-it-dung (I play prog rock rather) to keep almost nothing except for technokillers / dancekillers / tectonikillers or I do not know what. In short it looks like nothing.

The effects are pretty useless I think. They change the sound slightly and serve immediately ... uh ... nothing, except perhaps the delay ... although still ... overdrive the same set up is pretty ugly and hardly changes the sound. preset solo + with a legato pedal and it is not a musical instrument: Zero-expression, certainly the record is clean but much need for a PC.
Fortunately we can give new life to the instrument by changing the velocity response, which is 0 on all the presets! Above all, this velocity can be adjusted separately for each patch of the (upper and lower) and obtain very interesting results. A little knob tweaking and playing it only needs the aftertouch.

If I wanted to respond to those who complained of the low resolution of the beam in notament pitch:
in fact I think the mode of beam pitch is like the knob of the same name that is: change the pitch semitone by semitone, not continuously. Should be checked but somehow the beam of it is used little.
Indeed this is another failure of this synth: one does not really adjust the intensity of the beam and modulation modulation result is still too high and the beam d is too sensitive.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for about a month.
I like the direct and clear interface, you feel close to her and it was not the impression of not understanding the synthesis. Easily obtained good usable sounds.
I like the least bit of editable parameters and annoying little errors scattered around by roland (pitch knob that traumatized me), nothing serious or important, however, it remains an easy to use synth.
I think sh is worth its price, nothing more, nothing less. There are no surprises or at the finish or features whether bad or good.
With experience I think I would do this choice because in this price range I think this synth was exactly what I wanted and I am very happy.

This roland SH-201 is a 49 key synthesiser with 2 oscilaters.
It has 8 waveforms to choose from on each oscilator (osc)
It has everything that an analogue synth would need in my opinion. The D beam is a really cool feature and you can set different filters to that also.
You can make any sound you want really with this synth, from dirty bass wobbles all the way to trance leads and fx sweeps. I use mine as a controller also and it is very useful as I can set filters on a vst to the knobs on the synth and have a lot more flexibility.
Connections are midi, jack and usb. There is also a slot for pedals if you want to use one of those with it.

UTILIZATION

With synths like this, editing sounds is as easy as a walk in the park. Each knob effects the sounds and you can have a great time trying to make new sounds from the presets that are given.
The manual is more than clear, it tells you everything you need to know about synths and how to make new sounds. I mean... if you did not know anything about synths you would do once you have read this manual.
Set up is more than easy, just plug it in hook it up to some speakers and your ready to go.

SOUNDS

With most synths the sound is not realistic, you can never create a perfect violin etc with one but they are very nice sounds non the less.
Id say that the velocity touch is ok, not the best but pretty good.
Some sounds a really cheesy but you can make them nicer with a twist of a knob.
All the effects are good, I would like to have seen more filters but apart from that its great.

OVERALL OPINION

Favourite thing. Playing with the lfos.
Least favourite thing. A bit weak eg the knobs can be pulled off really easily.
Very good value for money for the size and the features.
I have always played with synths such as microkorg and moogs and I would say moogs are my favourite but very expensive.
Quality of sound is great in my opinion, if it was not I would have sent it back straight away.
If I had more money I would buy a little fatty moog but since I did not I bought this and it is a great synth.
