Recording King unveils its USA Custom Shop, producing collector's banjos available exclusively through The Music Link.

Each banjo is designed and conceived, then hand-engraved, by former Gibson Banjo Custom Shop head Greg Rich. Each Recording King USA Custom Shop banjo is described as “a singular unique piece, ” with each of these limited edition models being custom, with none of the details repeated in future models.

The Avalon is the current Custom Shop model, featuring a curly maple neck with a radiused ebony fingerboard, deco block inlays, and hand inlaid headstock pearlwork. It is assembled with classic American-made 24K gold-plated top tension hardware, including a return to the historic top-tension resonator – featuring a true one-piece, handcarved maple resonator back.

Sonically it is powered by a Recording King Mastertone-style tone ring, and a hand-turned, hand fit 3-ply maple rim. Greg Rich hand-engraves the armrest and tailpiece with artwork desribed as “unique to the character of each Custom Shop banjo.”
