« Quickly becomes indispensable! »

Published on 04/29/13 at 04:44
This is a compressor in the format "pedal". Format pedal ... In fact it is quite "big" especially broad. It should be a boss pedal 2 times width. This should be taken into account if it is used on a pedal. I personally had the laying on of the amp at the end of the loop before "input" input. Of course not rack!
on the other hand in very thick metal, a real tank that is not afraid of falling!

It is designed for low priority, but it can be used with other intruments given the quality and transparency of the effect.
This is a totally analog pedal. For connectivity: simple like any pedal ==> input and output!
Of course, the effects are not editable, but the advantage is that the knobs do not move to use.

So resume ... It is a dual-band compressor! Clearly, one can choose to apply compression to the entire sound spectrum (bass and treble) or only to "low" frequencies. This is very useful in the end! I'll explain later ...

So there is a switch that activates the effect and another that enables compression frequencies "acute". Then there is a knob for input, a setting for "low" compression scales (I then explained!) A compression of "acute" and finally the output level adjustment.
In short! Ultra simple, efficient, we go to the basics!

The downside of this pedal (without being one in the end!) Is the power that works in ... 18 v! Very difficult to find an adapter! The only known was that produced by Trace, but very difficult to find even in Cygnus!

on the other hand you can use two batteries 9 v and then it works fine!
And the good news is that the batteries last for about 75 hours! So much that consumption is very low ... If you do the repeated 3/4 hours you will have a twenty repeated before you ...
I put 9/10 because of the bp power supply.

UTILIZATION

The manual? I read it but frankly it is not much use! Better to use his ears!
To use it is very simple! you plug the jack out of your bass, pedal, pedals ... Then you adjust the input level. You have next two knob level indicator with a three color: red, orange, and green (like traffic lights!). Red, must be mounted level. When you're in the green, it's good, optimal level! is to be tested with a "standard" attack game (pick, finger, slap ...). once this set (note that you can do in silence the output level is 0). Then you adjust the output level that is desired. Note: it can be used as a booster. This increases the input level into the amp.
Finally, you set the compression level. There is more "subtle". as it is very transparent, you can feel it is useless to start! However, when playing with everyone we realize that the sound is clear and precise, it actually comes out of the mix! It is mostly on large attacks to avoid saturation, noise nuisance ... This will keep a very clean no matter what you play sound.

Personally, I use almost exclusively compression at low frequencies because the highs are less troublesome uncompressed in a "normal" use (and stand very well for rock, pop, blues ...). on the other hand I enable compression on acute when I play slap, tapping, etc. ... This avoids the "pop" or unwanted pops too violent or disturbing ...

I put 10/10 because it is simple, relevant and effective.

SOUND QUALITY

For sound: it is the same transparency. It does not alter the sound of bass, but it avoids the "annoying" sounds or too rough drafts can sometimes feel when we play as a group. In addition it also helps boost the sound! So we can have a very powerful sound without busting the ears of others. Very good it!

I think sincerely that we are close to a studio compressor. It really keeps his sound while having a real "clean" in the sound! Many compressors tend to "crush" the sound and it's really hard to use.

The strength of this effect is mainly the balance. In fact, this button allows you to boost or bass or treble, or mix the two. I use it in pieces (ie I want a snapping sound or lower). as I do not change my basic EQ on the amp! It's really well thought out and especially to modulate his "son" in 2 seconds! I love it!
More interesting than actually EQ pedal as the wheel can be adjusted in the moment that we want.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for around six months. Since it is connected continuously repeated, concerts ... Even if I speak in totally different groups, there is still an indispensable tool. This is the kind of effect that when you put one says ... "Yeah?" but after 10 minutes, it is removed, and there ... Miracle! We said it was just hell before! It quickly becomes indispensable.
I've used other compressors before. The only one who was in the same spirit is the multi-comp EBS. For others, it was either not enough or too much. With this one we are in a compressor "high end" of very good quality, which magnifies the bass sound rather than distorting it.

Manufacturer does more, it's just hard to find in Cygnus! Those who have a guard!

We love: - transparency / efficiency / Side two "flexible" band / the hyper-solid construction / the balance knob.
we hate: Feed in v. 18! Albeit with two batteries that last 75 hours ...

The ratio Q / P: actually € 90/100 OCCAZ it may seem expensive. But when you see his qualities, and especially the "indestructible" side of the machine, we see the essential fast side of the machine, well ... finally

Personally, looking back, I do not regret much, except for not having before!
It's your bass sound before ... And after!
