This year, Orange will offer modern bassists the new OB1 series of amp heads that will be unveiled at NAMM 2015.
The new Orange OB1 series debuts with two OB1–300 (300W) and OB1–500 (500W) 19” 2U rackable Class A/B heads. Orange says that this series was designed to provide bassists with a “bi-amp” solution and free them from using both guitar and bass amps to get harmonics and overdrive tones.
These new amps split the incoming signal into two full analog paths: one amplifies the clean sound and the other adds two stages of gain and harmonic content to the high frequencies, which can be controlled via a gain knob. Both signals are then combined by using the foot switchable Blend control and you can fine tune the sound with the active 3-band EQ.
It results a fat sound with a brutal, yet versatile gain circuit, which offers multiple sound possibilities according to the way you use the Blend and Gain controls.
Both amps feature a “Pics Only” control panel and include balanced DI, line level and speaker outputs with 4 or 8 Ohm impedances.
