The Ampeg B 100 bass guitar amp delivers 100 watts of power and has a single speaker. It has 1/4 inch high and low end inputs and has setting control knobs for high EQ, low EQ, and volume. It is just about as basic as you can get, making it really easy to use.

UTILIZATION

The configuration and set up is really simple - just plug in your instrument and play! With only three knobs, there isn't that much control over your tone, but there is enough there to dial in a good sound. I use this amp for practicing, and for this it suits my needs perfectly as I don't need to waste too much time getting the right sound. I don't have a manual for the Ampeg B 100, so I don't know how well put together it is, but the amp is easy enough to use that you shouldn't need it.

SOUNDS

The sound quality of the Ampeg B 100 is good, but it is nothing that will blow you away. I use it mostly with bass guitar, but also sounds pretty good with an electric guitar as well. While you'd like a few more parameters to control your tone, this ends up being enough for what I use it for, which is practicing. I wouldn't record with this amp, as I usually record bass guitar direct, but for practicing and even live shows, it works great.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Ampeg B 100 for about three years and have found it to be a useful amp from a company that I trust to make great equipment. While not as great sounding as some of Ampeg's other amps, this is much cheaper than a lot of them as well. Since they don't make these anymore, you'd have to get one used, which shouldn't be too hard as there are a decent amount of these still floating around. Overall, a great amp for practice and live shows.
