The DOD Bass 30 is one of the earliest bass multi fx units made for mass use, and it certainly was one of the cheapest. It included multiple sections of different effects. The first effect is the modeling, and this allowed your bass to be modeled after a certain amplifier type, distortion type, or synth type. It included Classic, Modern, Rock, Overdrive, Fuzz, Fretless, and Bass Synth. The next section was the EQ/tone section, where you can change such parameters as Volume, Model Gain, Treble, High Mid, Low Mid, Bass, and Gate Threshold. The next section was the effects, where you can choose a modulation effect, such as Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Vibrato, Envelope, Pitch/Bend, and Detune. The next section is the compressor, where you can adjust Crossover Frequency, Threshold, Ratio, and Gain. Next there is a small fx section for Delay and Reverb. And finally, there is a parameter section, which helps you adjust any of the parameters of the fx and models. There is also a wah on this unit as well.

UTILIZATION

First of all, this pedal is made of some pretty cheap plastic, and if you are not careful, you can easily break this thing, either the 5 foot pedals or the small buttons themselves. But this pedal seems to do it all, and it even has a tuner. If you are introducing yourself to the world of bass effects and processing, you can't go wrong with a unit like this. It is organized relatively neatly, and there are plenty of buttons and menus that allow parameter editing to be relatively easy.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the DOD Bass 30 is mediocre to good. Nothing here will blow you away, but the basic effects sound descent, and everything simply does what it's supposed to do. I find the simpler tone modeling, such as Classic and Modern, to be relatively benign, and don't really seem to do much to the tone. They would hide and muddy a great bass guitar or a great bass amp, so there is no need to use those unless you have poor equipment.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, the DOD Bass 30 is worth picking up if you need a cheap multi FX that does it all, just to experiment around with. Don't expect it to hold up to heavy touring, though!

Musician's Friend, $100. I couldn't NOT try it at this price. I had planned to buy a more expensive unit, but...
This unit has amp modeling, EQ, fretless, wah and autowah, compressor, synth, fuzzes and distortions (which I don't use), envelopes, flanges, and phasers, all with adjustable parameters.

It has good effects, good parameter adjustment capability, and a decent interface system. Other things I like: The fretless simulator, the autowah, and the EQ.

The expression pedal seems to be very touchy, that 'on/off' type feel. There are noticable pops from this unit. The bass synth isn't that great, but which cheap one is?

It's plastic, which I don't have a problem with, but I've always kinda stood on my guitar wahs in the past (this is my first bass wah), but I don't really want to stand on this unit. I'm afraid I'll break it. And while I may be wrong... I'm not about to find out.

For this price, it's fantastic, just don't expect more than what you paid for, and you'll be very happy. One more good thing... it has lots of effects to play with, so you get an idea of what you like, what you don't, and which ones are really useful in a band environment. Note: This rating is for a $100 unit. If the price goes up, the rating goes down... steeply.

Very good quality effect is amazing fretless
Used with a Yamaha RBX 260 and a yamaha JM1

Excellent quality price, original price 420, but it's worth it
San, I would resume a dod shsitez without problem.

All ncessaire effects: fuzz, overdrive, synth bass, flanger, vibrato, delay, reverb, ...
No PC edition is not all rcent either.
An input jack and 2 outpout (high and low)
An entry for a CD player.

UTILIZATION

Trs use simple, I got no notice and it is not lost at all. It supports diverse of a button, a light, turn on and valid, it's easy.

SOUND QUALITY

In Manir gnrale, we get good sound, especially considering the price. But for some it's hard to get something clean like overdrive (but still raisonnalbe).
Expressions for the pedals, it lacks a bit of prescision.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost 3 years and I am satisfied, I change today for a digitech dod BNX3 but remains a powerful tool for the price. Recommended for embarking on the mutli-purpose with an average budget.

All ineffective in low:
Amp-simulation (small but well-typed, so simple and effective)
- Compressor
- Autowah (for the funk it sounds)
- Overdrive and Fuzz, the overdrive is highly saturated, for a slight overdrive to use the parameter that will gain more modern
- Fretless simulation (no opinion on this point, I do not use)
- Synth (no opinion on this point, I do not use)
- 4-band equalizer, it can be really what you want
- Great chorus, flanger, pitch shift (impressive at the lower octave)
- Reverb
- Delay
- Tuner that goes into even 5-string
- Phrase sampler and loop to make, fun and practical effect
- Pedal assignable to numerous effects including obviously the volume. I can not find it lacks precision against it is obvious that we must avoid the "rangers" for SIDS in the "fingers".
... And I must forget all this can be combined and edited both simply and efficiently.

Side connections:
- Same active low input, no problem
- Two amps output to the stereo eventually
- An entry such as CD to play with
- One headphone convenient to get back a little personal with the Walkman ecouterus

UTILIZATION

Config hyper read from left to right in the logic of cumulative effects.
Editing sounds very practical, thin, adjustable on the fly even live if necessary
The manual is clear enough and overall it is never used after a first reading

SOUND QUALITY

- The effects in general are of good quality. Recall that this product was cheap when it came out and did not fade before the current references.
- It does not blow as some effects ... Z.
- I never reached the limits of the settings. You can make subtle to enormous. The compressor alone, missing a few fine adjustments but that is only found on the pedals or rack.
- I play pop rock (ie wide variety of sounds) and Jazz on Cort A5 5-string fretted, fretless B5, (both are active cort) Yamaha fretted BBG5 (passive).

- No opinion on the synth I do not use, nor on the simulation because I have a real fretless. everything flanger chorus delay pedals are better than my B. ..

OVERALL OPINION

- I use it for 3 years
- Assets: sounds great and easy to adjust both the compactness and weight (because huge machines while tole after a moment ca fatigue)
- Cons: um .... so, maybe the design that may shock but it is very subjective, and asking the ultimate it would have been to include a graphic EQ and a DI box, and would have been perfect, but other multi effects have not so ...
- The value, when it was released, it was worth the price. Now, OCCAZ, his report is obviously excellent
