Karyrofer added to its catalog a free 1958 Otto Rubner double bass sample library available for free if you have an SFZ player and/or Sforzando.
Meatbass features bowed, plucked, muted and percussion variations of the double bass. The instrument was tuned in fifths, one octave below a cello, the note ranges is lower than the standard E, with the C string detuned to A.
You’ll find 5 velocity layers and 4 round robins on 4 octaves for the Arco articulation, 4 velocity layers and round robins on three octaves for the pizzicato articulation and 8 percussive sounds with 5 round robins. Karoryfer also included three-voice and six-voice versions.
If you use the Plogue Sforzando, you’ll have the ability to control the envelope release time as well as the vibrato speed, depth, delay and fade-in, all these settings are MIDI CC mapped. The multi-voice mappings add detune and width parameters, as well as a « sectionize » control that changes the depth and speed of the vibratos between the different voices for a more humanized result.
