Audiofanzine FR's review (Shadow - SH 955 NFX)

By Audiofanzine FR, 06/11/2008
(Originally written by myodrummers/translated from Audiofanzine FR)

- How long have you been using it?

2 years.

- Which feature do you like the most / the least?

The sound is perfectly reproduced if you have a good (guitar) amp. You can have a lot of fun with your amp (and an effect pedal) testing the distortions. A real pleasure^^.
Its only weakness is its sturdiness... don't rush on stage with it.

- Did you try any other models before buying it?

Not at the time, but now I have an electric cello and although it doesn't have the same character as an acoustic cello it is better on stage.

- How would you rate its value for money?

Quite good considering the sound.

Based on your experience, would you buy this product again?

If I had the same budget, yes, no doubt.

Beginner (O.M.Mönnich - HW 4/4)

By Sowmnyfer, 26/06/2011
I bought it when I wanted to put me on cello. For that price, of course, I did not expect to have a very good instrument but what is important to know is that even new, it has required an adjustment from the outset. When I went to a luthier (who by the way, asked me what it was like this stuff ... very encouraging), he offered this setting to one hundred dollars (yes, it is necessary change the strings as well). A little later one of the screw was skipped. In short it is expensive to repair.

The sound is nevertheless correct to my ears. I will not comment on the ease of playing because I have no basis for comparison and the cello is anyway a difficult instrument.

The bow hair is natural.

In summary, it suits me for what I did. I am a beginner and it recognizes what I play. I expected to be more solid. I think it's my only regret.

indiancow's review (Shimro - Violoncelle)

By indiancow, 07/03/2008
I inherited this cello from my brother and I have now been using it for 4 years.

In terms of value for money, I must say that it is excellent because it is 15 years old and it sounds just as good. The original bridge was replaced with a special tailor made by a luthier, and it's even better than before.
I have tested other models of cello, and this is doing pretty good compared to these other models.
