Very good sounds and keys but the price..

Kawai MP6Published on 10/01/12 at 15:32
I have used the Kawai MP 6 many times, it is an 88 key digital piano loaded with 256 sounds. One thing I will say about it is, if you are looking for a stage piano or a good piano for your home then this might not be for you. They really didn’t put much effort into the “piano” side of it as much as they did making it more of a workstation type of board. The price is 1500 dollars and that is over priced in my opinion because you can purchase a full workstation for that price with many more sounds and features . And if you are looking for a great digital piano then you can get one cheaper than the Kawai MP 6. So the MP 6 is kind of an in between keyboard, and from my experience I have...…

And if you are looking for a great digital piano then you can get one cheaper than the Kawai MP 6. So the MP 6 is kind of an in between keyboard, and from my experience I have learn to stay away from gear like this. Yes, it does sound great and works perfectly , but for the price you can get so much more.

UTILIZATION

You can record with your USB drive in MP3 or WAV files with the MP6 and it has an on board 3 band EQ. the Kawai MP 6 does have realistic sounding piano’s and it is well built. My only issue with it is why does it have to cost 1500 dollars when for that price you can get a full workstation with similar sounds.

SOUNDS

There are plenty of acoustic and electric piano patches on the Kawai MP 6 and all of them do sound very good. You can also hook it up through MIDI in/out. At first glance of the specs and the piano sounds of the Kawai MP 6 you will want to have it. But there are just so many other boards out there that have similar sounds plus more for that same price. The Kawai MP seems to also be a little heavier than the standard digital piano which if you are looking at it for a stage piano could cause a problem with transporting it from home to a small venue or wherever.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, it is a very good sounding electric piano but after using it and seeing the price I was not going to spend that money for it when that money could get me so much more than just an digital piano.

UTILIZATION

Touch is excellent, there are different velocity curves including a user.

The MP6 is not only an excellent piano is also a full keyboard master. Divisible into 4 internal or external areas (or 2). It has many real-time controllers (4 + 4 slider assignable slider. Filter setting, shell effects and dosage selection midi controllers)

The layer mode has 4 layers very easy to program. The method differs from the sound mode, in that it allows you to edit the sounds without changing the original.

The big highlight for the effects: 4 effects processor (one for each sound), with 2 effects (reverb and modulation: chorus, flange, wah pedal with adjustable, delay, phaser etc ...) completely independent and adjustable independantly.

All the settings are easy to access and the many options

SOUNDS

Piano sounds are very realistic and adjustable in depth, one can easily get SOUND that you want. There is a very good dynamic
The electric pianos (Rhodes wulitzer, clavinet ...) are very expressive. Amp simulator is a real plus.
The DX has a little disappointed me, they are too numerous and quite banal. Yamaha is better in this area.

Other sounds are good, a bit string assembly below Yam but very playable.
A nice surprise for the bass. The guitars are very average. Several synth sounds used to make tablecloths interesting, especially playing with the effects of the 4 layers.
The organs are of good quality. A mode sets the harmonic drawbars and modified by the 4 sliders.
Choirs are to part with some jazz to Scat kurzweil.
The sax brass flute are great also.

You can adjust the dynamics of each layer of the layer 4 sounds.

KR Home studio said it had "MP6 was close to a workstation," which is true.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 months and I am delighted. For 1050 euros is a steal. Its solid construction inspire confidence.

Cons:
- No aftertouch
- No sound or user setup available. We must crush the existing setups. Fortunately it is possible to load and save these sounds on a USB stick

This piano is a very good choice: piano sounds realistic and adjustable sound very "pro" and dynamic, excellent touch, a multitude of adjustment that make it a very good master keyboard (which has alone justifies its purchase ) and twelve o'clock mp3 wav player with ability to save his game to wav or mp3. Not to mention the entire section and quality.

Only one question remains: why is it so little known? Especially as the service responds very quickly to technical issues!

For curiosities I have the next sales rank of a great merchant EUROPEN, it is really well located trs.

Whoever is looking for a beautiful piano sound with a good touch and trs remaining in a reasonable budget trs, must at least try it.

SOUNDS

Sounds great touches.
