[NAMM] Roland RD-800 digital stage piano

Winter NAMM 2014 visitors will find at the Roland booth the new RD-800 digital piano designed for the stage and the studio.

The RD-800 is a digital piano featuring a 88-key PHA-4 Concert Ebony/Ivory Feel keyboard with escapement, the latest Roland technology for touch detection and grand piano feel.

The instrument offers SuperNATURAL sounds, including acoustic pianos (Concert Grand from the V-Piano Grand, a new upright piano…), electric pianos, Virtual tone Wheel organs and synths from the 60s, 70s and 80s. In total, you’ll find more than 1100 sounds.

All these sounds can be shaped using the Piano Designer, with wich you can adjust the string resonance, hammer noise, and control the tune, level and timber for each of the 88 notes thanks to the “Individual Note Voicing” feature. Plus, the “Tone Color” button is automatically assigned to the width control when you use SuperNATURAL sounds for mono or stereo output options. You can also use this function to blend two electric piano sounds and create new tones. Note that all these settings can be stored on a USB drive as Live Sets and recalled when playing.

To complete the sound shaping optons, Roland offers a Modulation FX section with 56 effects, including tremolos, phaser, an amp simulation with multiple cabinets (including a Leslie), a 5-band EQ, and more.

Last, the Roland RD-800 features a WAV player/recorder, a color LCD display with LEDs, stereo XLR and 1/4” jack outputs, stereo 1/8” auxiliary input, 4 connectors for external pedals (Damper, FC1, FC2 and EXT) and you can use the RD-800  as a MIDI controller thanks to three MIDI DIN connections.
