«  Excellent, but ... »

Published on 09/18/14 at 09:23
What type of keyboard (synth, piano ...)? How many octaves?
61 keys, a nice keyboard but more cheap and noisier than the original V-synth

Which controllers (pitch, modulation, sustain ...)?
pitch / mod to roland, aftertouch, two d-beam radiation, several assignable pots, an assignable XY pad (the pad damage and the pots are also more cheap quality than the original V-synth)

How many sounds, effects? What styles? Are they edited? Via a Mac utility / PC? What polyphony? ...
Many sounds, effects, loops, samples of all editable directly or via PC.
Editing allows you to go very far in the handling or manufacture of sounds or patches.
The ability to zone up to 16 times the keyboard with different sounds is very significant on a synth that is not yet a workstation.
In my view, some additional effect parameters assignable controllers (such as feedback from a time ...) would have been welcome.
Polyphony also can cause concern. According patches or can go down to 3 or 4 notes ... It gives me the weak point of this synth.

UTILIZATION

The general configuration is it simple? Editing sounds and effects is it easy?
Yes, it's pretty intuitive, but can be a little difficult for a beginner. The touch screen makes good editing.

The manual is clear and sufficient?
Yes, it is rather clear.

SOUNDS

Sounds: I think a strong point of this synth!
The original V-synth is excellent on this point, and the GT brings the sonic possibilities of 2 v-synth!
Tablecloths, pads, leads, loops (...) with a sonic excellence. I have a weakness for the pads and leads that can be obtained on this synth ...
In addition, it contains the outset card VC2 (vocoder +).
AP synthesis (linking notes together in a natural acoustic instrument model) is also a plus, though their effectiveness is sometimes quite discreet.

OVERALL OPINION

Possessor of a v-synth, I ended up buying a v-synth GT in order to compare them and sell one of the two. I finally decided to sell the GT, which in my opinion, did not bring enough new features and capabilities that justify the difference in side, and even though it's still more than adequate, construction is less important as its predecessor.
