Average at best

These phones have a very low threshold and give you a big bass bump at about 70-120hz and you don't want any of that when you are buying a set. I think that headphone mixes are important. Isolation was not that bad when cutting drums and that is unusual for a set of cans like this.

The sound is more enhanced than professional flat headphones. I have pair and we use them in our C room www.chrislieckstudio.com but not in our A room or B room. Use other more professional phones if you have the money. Buy AKG 240's. As anyone can see I say that if you shop around and read the articles by most veteran producers or engineers you will find that most pros like to use a specific set of cans...…

Use other more professional phones if you have the money. Buy AKG 240's. As anyone can see I say that if you shop around and read the articles by most veteran producers or engineers you will find that most pros like to use a specific set of cans that can take a great deal of input and these can't. Most headphones break up at around 30hz if you are to pump that frequency into the phones at a decent level ala a heavy hitting kick drum. I think that you will find that for vocals these will suffice. We use them all the time in our C studio and we don't have many complaints about them but we don't have anyone raving about them as well. Most of the time I like to have headphones that are all the same but unfortunately clients are hard on headphones so you don't want a pair that cost $200. I like the HD line although that word is quite deceiving. I think if you want to save a bit of money and your hard on your headphones and you are not real picky about a flat pair, or you mix a lot on your phones get a pair of K240's.

Cheap but quality headphones.

Sennheiser HD 205Published on 09/24/11 at 10:17
These are your standard headphones and will work with any system. I personally use them at a desktop computer, but have used them many times with my iPod and laptop computer. The headphones are pretty effective and have a decent range of frequencys in them. The major gripe I have with them would be when outside the low end of the headphones is drowned out majorly by any other noise. I use these headphones to mix songs as well as creating and they have done a great job thus far. If you are looking for some cheap but quality headphones these are definately great. I use these headphones to mix songs as well as creating and they have done a great job thus far. If you are looking for some cheap but quality headphones these are definately great. For listening to music my preferred genre is Hip hop. When in a quiet environment the low end of these headphones is very well done. Top and mid ranges have great clarity. The bottom end is defined but may seem a bit heavy depending on where you are. A minor annoyance is the head band. These headphones were designed to sit on your ears and stay tight for obvious reasons but in my opinion they are maybe a bit too tight. The headband is adjustable easily enough though. They may take a small while to get used to but once you have adjusted to them you should find them comfortable. I have tested them for long periods of time and they have never tired out my ears or physically hurt. Get these if you need some cheap headphones with quality.

Perfect for the price I paid

Sennheiser HD 205Published on 03/22/11 at 08:03
These sennheiser HD 205 headphones are really good.
They are mainly dj headphones and have a nice little rotating phone on the right side so you can easily listen to the next track while you are listening to what you are playing at the moment.
I must say that the frequency response on these headphones are great. Before I got a hold of some studio monitors I was using these to mix and master to and my tracks turned out pretty good.
I have to say that the really low end sub bass does not get picked up as much as I would like, but I am a sub junkie so you can never please me in that aspect.

I paid about £40 for these headphones and they are brilliant for the price. They are pretty lightweight and very strong. They come with a quarter inch jack adapter to plug into your mixer like most dj headphones do and it is a mini jack or 3.5mm whatever you want to call it jack normally.
The jack is gold plated which is very nice, you do not hear any buzz or things like that.
The only problem I would say is that even though on the box it says over ear headphones they do no go fully over your ear as you might expect, the cushion padding area kind of rests on your ear than actually going over it, my ears are really small also so I know what I am talking about :)
So because they rest on your ear they do start to hurt after a long session of wearing them but by a long session I mean like 4 to 5 hours of wearing them none stop.
Altogether then I think that for the price I paid these headphones are great, good quality noise cancellation and a nice lightweight but sturdy frame that lets you wear them without thinking they are going to break are all good qualities for a pair of headphones like this.
I would definitely pick these again if my bust.

The Sennheiser HD 205's are a pair of studio headphones that are specifically designed for DJ's. One of the ears on these headphones can rotate for listening with one ear only when necessary, hence they are DJ headphones. They aren't designed for any sort of other real pro audio use, but like most headphones can certainly be used in any situation where you'd want to listen to something on headphones. My roommate, who is a DJ, has a pair of these headphones and he likes them a lot for what he's using them for. My roommate, who is a DJ, has a pair of these headphones and he likes them a lot for what he's using them for. I've borrowed them a few times just to kind of see what they sound like and to get some comparison to my headphones and others that I've used. While the HD 205's are definitely suitable for listening back to stuff in the studio or elsewhere, I wouldn't use them in the studio for any purposes other than this. I can't speak too much about their usefulness in the world of DJing, but as I said earlier, my roommate who has these uses them for this purpose and likes them a lot. Even though they do have a full enough sound, they're definitely not adequate for mixing and really not even for checking mixes if they're the only headphones you're checking on (they would be fine as an extra set). For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend the Sennheiser HD 205's for anything other than the intended use for DJ's. The price should probably be a bit cheaper, as it's not too far off from the HD 280's, which in my opinion are superior in sound and overall quality, as well as versatility. Check these out if you're looking for a set of DJ headphones, but otherwise I'd consider another pair like the HD 280's or something else from Sennheiser.
