Tama Starclassic Performer

Tama Starclassic PerformerPublished on 05/29/05 at 15:00
I bought a five-piece starclassic performer at a local shop for $1,687. I wanted to step up from my cheaper kit, I'm glad I did! Later, I ordered a 16 inch floor tom to go with the kit, which I received after about 2 months.

I've played maple kits from almost every manufacturer, and this kit beats them all hands down. They are definitely the best drums on the market. They just have so much tone and are so dark and warm sounding, and they have no bad overtones (as with some maple kits). Also, with the 'fast' sizes that I bought, they are very articulate. They sound huge, particularly the bass drum.

I wish all the options on the starclassic maple series were available for the performer (sizes, sound focus rings, gold hardware). But, that's how they keep the price down.

It's Tama. What else do I have to say? The hardware is particularly nice.

These are the best sounding drums on the planet. They aren't quite as 'pretty' as top of the line maple drums, but they far supass maple when it comes to tone, warmth, and articulation.

fret music, southampton, united kingdom. cost wass somewhere like £1300 for the shells and the snare.

the kit has a dark and open tone and the projection is amazing. the drums are real versatile, every style sounds neat and they are super good to play.

it would be nice if the toms were not mounted on the bass drum is all.

all die cast hoops on the toms, wooden hoops on the bass drum, neat lugs and super thin birch shells (6mm toms, 7mm bass drum). the star cast mount system gives super good tom isolation for perfect resonance and the kit comes with a fairly decent set of heads. i have never heard a better bass drum than the starclassic birch 18" by 22". they look neat, too.

i like maple kits a lot, but i prefer the birch sound of tama's starclassic performer, it's cheap for what it offers.

MUSIC123 ~ $2600 INCLUDING HARDWARE

BEUTIFUL SOUNDING DRUMS WITH GREAT PROJECTION, GREAT LOOKING, RIMS MOUNTING SYSTEM IS EXCELLENT

I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE 16" FLOOR TOM. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE 1 MONTH. IT'S BEEN 8 MONTHS AND THERE'S STILL NO WORD. I'VE CONTACTED TAMA BUT THEY DON'T PROVIDE ANY INFO.

BEUTIFUL DRUMS. IF YOUR PLANNING ON ORDERING ANY ADDITIONAL PIECES BEWARE, THEY MAY NEVER COME. THEN YOU'LL BE STUCK WITH HALF A KIT.

The toms sound really good but we must tackle the rgler to transfer the harmonics. The GC is really great for my style (metal) by changing against my skin for more punch. The snare is trs Submitted but warm at the same time (normal c birch).
I have used on the scne ing taient delighted to have a drumkit worthy of the name, I have not clump or tom or CC or GC and it sounded monstrous. The guys are in their sound rgl 2 cuillre a pot shot.

In short a drumkit that sounds really pro trs well, just hard argler. To get better you need to type in the Pearl MMX (but I like not pearl) or DW (but not the GC in DW is the price of the tama hehehe).

So if you're on your way crsus and courses in DW if the drumkit is really fantastic
