It is a model that intrigues me for several years and is looking for a PB "modern" I decided to crack ...

It to its modern microphones (although you'll see that it has not dragged), the D-tuner, its radius and very useful for a few things that I plan to make this instrument ...

Here is the description of the instrument:

UTILIZATION

1st impressions

Flycase reception and opening of the instrument to find quite surprising.

Between red paint slightly spangled the big maple fingerboard with black marks, the edge of the handle flamed and good mechanical dimensions, this bass oozes strength!

First grip and first observation: it weighs the matron! (Well 4.4kg on the scales is 600 grams heavier than my 5-string)

The handle is not as vast as I hoped and stings the nose immediately ... meanwhile the body is smaller than a traditional PB but compensates a little thickness to accommodate the handle.

In short we are not able to play jazz there!

It addresses the changes!

2 and 3 snips soldering iron shots later, the woofer and turned knobs with. Remains only micro P with its tone (2 values of capacity).

To maintain a consistent appearance I put a new black pickguard just to stay in the tone of the fittings.

I mounted a pair of straplocks and I noticed with a strap handle Comfortstrap pulls a little but holding is "acceptable".

I keep raising the strings of origin and amount to a set of D'Addario EXP. I tried a few days of Ti but it was not convincing.

Small adjustment of curvature, height and micro action then I head to the amp ...

SOUNDS

I go ... volume and gain half "business as usual" and the first leaden note: BOUUUUMMMMM!

It does not saturate but my preamp so the flash output level this low is important!

The handle comfortable to play, helped by its satin finish and 34-inch pitch.

Profile C bothers me a bit (I would have preferred as D cups ...) but its width can be at home anywhere. The frets are really well even if mounted too high for my taste.

The instrument responds well to various attacks and brings out without forcing different types of game that I used to know + finger slap.

Otherwise the right side chamfer at the top of this body can comfortably position the forearm and the entire left side handle is accessible. It is a child's play slider until the 21th fret and I do not hesitate!

I do not develop on the sounds provides for the woofer fired, but for the rest it is really in the presence of PB severely burnée!

In fact, the sound of the instrument is inversely proportional to its appearance knowledge rather balanced.

The bass is strong but not invasive mediums "musical" and the top end is not garish.

The installation of a dual tone provides a classic tone OR a tone that sounds badly modified the old. This ability is usable 2nd in race start (if not too dark) but can trigger a kind of boost in the low mids ideal for solo fingers typed vintage!

Flat fillets sounds are interesting but rather "discrete" for my taste and as Kasco, I find that the bass reveals his temperament once mounted in round nets (D'Addario inside) because it growls as it should be for a combo alder / maple!

Finally after a few weeks of use, it is an instrument for attaching versatile and full of personality. To summarize this low is FAT in all aspects!

OVERALL OPINION

For nine months now this bass has become my ultimate weapon that live both in repeats.

Its gameplay is unique and sounds perfect to me. The sound is thick and loaded with low effective for all registers.

2 faults in my eyes: it could be lighter and handle nose stings a little but other than that ... it's perfect!

To finish this Japanese Yamaha is really excellent workmanship, as well as for construction equipment, I am THRILLED!
