The Electrix EQ Killer is a rack able piece of gear that almost any musician or engineer can appreciate. it’s a smaller unit but provides a very big analog sound. The EQ Killer gives you total control over the transforming the sound you want to get out of it. It can really change the frequencies and do it better than a lot of built in ones that come in softwares today. This is one piece of hardware that is not only affordable but can really make your music go to a different level. I usually only use the built in eq parameters that come in fl studio and cubase and sometimes in pro tools but when I get a chance to use the Electrix EQ Killer you can almost tell just by being a listener...…

I usually only use the built in eq parameters that come in fl studio and cubase and sometimes in pro tools but when I get a chance to use the Electrix EQ Killer you can almost tell just by being a listener that something different was used in my work.
Some of the effects are a wah sound as well as some powerful filtering (analog).

UTILIZATION

The elecrix EQ Killer is very easy to use and understand as long as you have a basic understand of some of the functions most eq’a have. Plus its hardware so its all right in front of you with knobs that you can play around with to get something that you will really like.

SOUND QUALITY

The Electrix EQ Killer will help you easily get the sounds out of the way that you don’t want there and lets be honest. A lot instruments and sounds have certain frequencies in them that don’t mesh well with your project, well with the Electrix EQ Killer you will have no problem filtering them all out and getting the best results while doing so.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, its worth the buy. Especially if you have never used an analog Eq before. It will be a little different at first but once you see how much more powerful it is that the basic built in ones in your software you will tell the difference right away.

The Electrix EQ Killer filter is a classic equalization unit in the form of a rackable piece of outboard gear. It is an all analog unit and it will take up two rack space units.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Electrix EQ Killer is very easy to follow and to use. It basically has two bands - one for low frequency and one for high frequency. For each of these, it has a knob to choose the exact frequency, and knobs for boost and attenuation. It also has a bandwidth knob that applies to both of the bands and has an attenuation selector that also applies to both of the bands. I don't have the manual for this EQ, as it is old and rare, but I never needed it and if you have ever used a...…

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Electrix EQ Killer is awesome in every aspect. It is an effective EQ, with all the parameters needed to do the job well. It has become a classic piece of gear for one reason, and that is because it just sounds so good. I have used this on everything from lead vocals to guitars and drums, always with great results. In terms of outboard EQs, it doesn't get much better than this.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Electrix EQ Killer filter for about two years and whenever I have access to it, I always use it. It is extremely expensive now because of how rare and coveted they are, so I would only recommend trying to purchase this to those who are really looking to put together or add to a top flight professional studio. For the rest of us, we are lucky to be able to use these. Overall, the Electrix EQ Killer is one of the best EQ/filters ever made. Def, buy it.

Features is the strong side of this unit! fantastic design, i really like the idea of running two sources through the unit (it got 2 sets of inputs and outputs so u can run two TTs/CDJs/whatever through it, and effect 1 at a time). another great thing about this unit is the "Momentary" buttons, each band got a momentary button (spring-loaded) which cause a momentary kill when pressed, but when a band has already been killed, the function of the momentary button is reversed, and it causes a momentary insert of the killed band! low and high crossovers - need i say more? u can define the low-mid freq. and the mid-high freq., a must for DJs who like to make smooth mixes!...…

Price paid

100$ each (got 2)

UTILIZATION

Very simple to use, u get the hang of it after 3 mins, very effective unit! manual was very handy, with lots of connecting suggestions the unit is light and portable, and can be grouped together with another unit (or with a filter queen) to create a 19" rack

unit is nicely built, rather solid... seems like it can take some abuse... the spring-loaded buttons seems very nice, haven't had any problem with those yet... the freq. band knobs feels nice too, but as i mentioned b4, they make a slight static sound (need to listen very carefuly with the headphones crancked up to max) the overall build is very good, yet there are two annoying things, 1) the yellow faceplate is actually a sticker :/ and 2) there is no on/off switch and more important, it uses an extrenal PSU (" />

SOUND QUALITY

I'd give it 6.8 sound is pretty nice.... more than decent i'd say S/N-R is good, overall sound is OK (nothing amazing)... there is a slight flanging sound when the crossovers overlap (when they are on the same freq. and the MID ch. effect is canceled) and if you very listen carefuly u'll hear the freq. band knobs (hi, mid, low) make a "static" sound when they're used

OVERALL OPINION

I'm truely in-love with this unit!!! tho the sound isn't amazing, it's usabilty and features makes it an amazing unit!! and for the price, u sure get a lot!!!!

2 Crossovers (Low and High) High - Mid - Low EQ with complete kill switches and a momentary button that acts like the flash switches on your mixer. 2 RCA ins and outs with a phone preamp switch so depending on what device is plugged in depends on wether the preamp is engaged. Send and Return effect loop, killed bands are only sent out the send.

Price paid

$50 at Guitar Center $99 on the web

UTILIZATION

The EQ Killer is very easy to use! The knobs are spread out for easy gripping and the buttons are big enough so you don't miss when you have to punch the kill button quickly. The manual is very helpful, explains different hook-up scenarios as well as some effects that you can do by...…

The manual is very helpful, explains different hook-up scenarios as well as some effects that you can do by using the different frequencies

These little puppies are very sturdy, you can throw it and it will do some damage, it's very well made with metal knobs and plastic buttons that can withstand frequent abuse.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality is great!! I use the EQ killer more than my mixers EQs, the sound has more depth after running through an EQ Killer. By using the crossovers you can perform some filter sweeps and eliminate vocals from tracks. Different effects are covered in the manual

OVERALL OPINION

I love these things soo much, I bought two so I can EQ both turntables or CDs independently of each other. Electrix also includes a connecting bracket so if you get two EQ Killers, you can join them together and they will fit into a 19" rack!
