Installing it's going but the configuration is another thing to look.

Will understand why Sonar works "better" with drivers WDM / KS that the ASIO drivers.

I write "better between" parentheses because it is only a stopgap that does not fit all situations (low latency compensation).

Fortunately I had bought the reference guide Sonar bible 1000 pages at 50 € which is the true guide, the one that comes in the box can not take advantage of the software properly.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Background music creation with virtual instruments and effects, mix in the composition, large CPU load, RAM lightly loaded.

On XP Pro with:
Gigabyte P35-DS4 v2 CM
Q6600-Quadcore
4GB of ram-
Good-8800GT
The Spinpoint F1 32MB-cache dedicated to a DD sample.
-A suite of computer software and legitimate: Komplete 5, Kore2, Ohmicide, GS201.

In short, a config 'powerful and good stuff I've never been entitled to a stable software, the updates have changed nothing.
And that just because I use Sonar other sequencers / trackers carefree. (Live lite and Renoise)

To say how it is on the street I even started my Hackintosh machine on a dedicated hard disk, so MAC OSX 10.5.4 installed on a PC to run Logic Pro 8 .. well it was infinitely more stable, never crashes. Charles will understand ...

Sonar is fickle, I lost count of the blue screens. He had trouble with my Novation Remote SL and Automap. And with my PC USB keyboard.

If I make up to 256-512 samples latency I can not do a solo or mute the audio without answers.
Engine stalls during playback are also legions.
When I open the window of an instrument by clicking on the track south of I'm entitled to a strong buzz that the time window opens ... if it's busy I Kontakt not say it takes time ...

All this unbearable to use ... and I'm tired!

I read everywhere that the 8.5 is finally stable but it is 150 € more, but I will stress this point.

OVERALL OPINION

I'm using Sonar for about 3 years I started on the v6 and I'm very disappointed because I put the dough in a software unstable.
I especially saw his big potential and interesting side outsider at the time, it really is configurable to envy ... if only it worked.
We can not deprive him of his basic assets it full of really interesting features and practical use but ...

BUT, I do not spend 8.5 for all the reasons mentioned above. Besides it's good, at a time I was motivated to do the update, I had the dough and then "surprise!"

My credentials no longer work on the Cakewalk website ...
I informed him 6 times by mail, they sent me back my ID every time and I still can not connect to my account by selecting the correct region.
I told them the problem 6 times, now they no longer respond to my emails my client while I and my Sonar 6 and 7 are registered at home. They ignore me.
This is unacceptable!

They have not been able to solve this problem either, so no update possible for me anyway ... the dog.

The Cakewalk was a dance that slaves practiced in the cotton plantations.
And although the settlers had me well, they were taken my money and I can not resell the license.

The epic Cakewalk / Sonar is finished for me.
I would dance in another cotton field at Apple ... for example ... at least I'd be a slave to a company with software that suits me and works very well.
