No problems with installation. The configuration software is very fast is automated for most sound cards and midi controllers. I met a configuration problem with my Akai MPD16 that day I had to go for a MPD18. The manual is clear but the grip is so intuitive that I have hardly opened.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I have a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 board on which is mounted an AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor and 8 GB of DDR2 RAM. A 64GB SSD drive for Windows 7 and softwares system and disk 1TB for current files.
For sound, I use a card ESI MAYA 44 USB ASIO which seems essential for this type of software.
Reason is one of the few programs that has never caused a crash and it makes a lot of years that I use.

OVERALL OPINION

I use Reason for several years (since 4.0). I have used and I still use other programs in parallel but Reason is still a must for music creation, a powerful and complete studio for creation and creativity. Warning it is still not very accessible for people not having a minimum of musical knowledge.

Excellent quality / price ratio that makes people receiving pay for what you want!

The installation is very simple, fast. Birth I had no worries.

- Unable to control both the volume of several tracks on the table SSL mix. While it is based on other sequencers. Which wasted a lot of time during the mixing if you want to increase the overall volume without using the master.
- Can not group tracks mixer (improvement announced for the V7)
- No visual EQ (also announced for the V7, to see)
- Editing Audio in the sequencer
- Color Management in the sequencer
- Management noon mouse impractical
- Mute buttons and independent solo between the sequencer and mixer
- Comp missing MIDI mode

Yes. A reference to the sound design and install an idea quickly. An exemplary stability. Despite minor flaws still present, I trust Propellerhead for the future. Version 7 is eagerly awaited.

Reason 6.5 is a DAW that gives you an unlimited amount of tracks for audio, and a whole bunch of effects right out of the box. The soft synths that come with it are decent too, but they are not good enough to make you want to use them without purchasing any other synths. There are a lot of sounds/synths but the quality of them is average at best. But the effects stand out big time to me, they have made some major upgrades to the effects section giving more and better sounding effects than ever before.
Installing Reason 6.5 took a long time on my laptop (which is where I use it the most) which I didn’t understand because my laptop has more than enough disk space and it has a fast processor. I am guessing it was just because Reason 6.5 just had a lot of stuff to install and load onto my disk space even though it didn’t seem like it took that much disk space up.
The best part about Reason 6.5 is that you will have everything you need right out of the box to start creating a song and finish it all in this program without the need for anything external. You can start your composition and record to it, then mix and master your whole song right in Reason 6.5. If you want to start getting better sounds and plug ins down the road then you can do that and they will work perfect with Reason 6.5.
The workflow of Reason 6.5 could not be better because it is made for a beginner but is efficient enough for a veteran user. I choose Reason 6.5 over a lot of other software’s for that reason only. If I were to go back in time knowing what I know now I would have started working with Reason 6.5 over anything else. Reason 6.5 is all 64 bit operation and it is very easy to time stretch your audio without it effecting the quality. Reason 6.5 is a do it all monster!

I must say that stability is a whole ordeal (at least for now).
THE cpu load on some preset (combinator) rises a bit but that is VST loins of food sometimes 60% of the cpu.

OVERALL OPINION

It is now quite a few years I made only with vst, I had reached a point where I spent more time "test" "experiment" the tons of VST on the market, rather than a composer.

Yes because the vst is great (Omnisphere, Vanguard, Sylenth1, the FabFilter plugs etc etc), but I got a saturation.

It may seem contradictory, but have a ca autent available choices, I find it easy to forget the basics.

Reason came back a bit of order in all this.
We have no synths to create 10 000 and it is very good!
It is a very complete workstation or the key word is "creativity."
It undertakes not to use presets for creating in reason (thanks to notament cables) is awesome.

Unfortunately when it did even a few default.

No EQ worthy of the name!
We are obliged equalizer multiplied to arrive at what you want to do.

Then and not least, no huge visualization tool.
If you want to watch the curve of a low frequency that it is being created and well .... the only solution is to go through a windows software that runs in the background or open another DAW and make rewire.Ca fact one can spot a DAW today.

For the rest I do nothing wrong, it's great.

Propellerhead Reason 6 is the newest version that they have come out with this year, they are already on version 6.5 though due to some issues with some drivers they were having shortly after the release of version 6. You can use Reason 6 on your Mac or PC and it will work great on both as long as you have enough CPU and RAM to run it efficiently. If you have a PC you can run it on Vista, Windows 7 or XP. It will run great on any of those systems but be careful because if you have Vista or Windows 7 you will need to have the 64 bit systems and not the 32 bit systems or you will run into some major problems.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Mac users just need to have a newer version of the OS X, I think they need to have 10.5 or later in order to run Reason 6. Right out of the box reason has some very good plug ins and effects that you can use right away without having to purchase other plug ins. One of the reasons that I feel in love with this software is that you can record an unlimited amount of tracks right into it and if you computer can handle it the possibilities are endless. Some of my sessions are pretty big with a lot of live instruments and tons of vocals so this is very handy for my set up.

OVERALL OPINION

Setting up Reason 6 was simple, as long as your system meets the requirements you will be using it in no time. This is where Reason has had issues in the past with drivers on certain systems. They have to do updates because a lot of users are having problems, though I have no experienced any myself. I am very happy with this software, I have been using this version of Reason since early spring.

After downloading a few GB the installation file, a few clicks I was already running! The manual is very well built but I regret that there is in electronic form because I would have loved to avoid printing hundreds of pages of this bible.

This is only a few months I use it and this is my first real software computer music. The modular side is just great and we find ourselves very quickly to play LEGO with all this equipment! This software is really the one that every beginner should have! In addition there are tons and tons of free tutorials that are available on the net!

Worry-free installation, no inconsistency. I went from record that I have just bought Reason to no side effects! Finally if they are only positive!

I had just bought on sale for Record Milonga for € 75 Propellerhead I then proposed a Reason to Shift 6 ... € 75!
So the dream, to go for as little cost to software as complete, stable, great level of sound reproduction and also fun to use (I love to fiddle with the cables behind).
While still no possibility to use VST but we realize it quickly enough to himself this little toy

Easy installation and trouble-free ... Easy configuration. Do not forget to go to preferences to assign the sound card or audio interface to digital ... No inconsistency. It lacks the support for plug-ins such, AmpliTube, addictive drums, or Virtual guitarist ... etc ...

I am an addict Reason since version 3. version 6, with the audio in the mixer and effects supplmentaires reached a high level trs, I am satisfied.

I recommend this product all fans of electronic music like me because it allows to go trs later in this universe. It is a complete studio numrique trs trs synchronized around a good squenceur. In short, the potential we offer this app is really huge. I'm over 6 years and I do not lche.

I speak as an adept electronic music. For other style of music, it's not me to judge.

Only minor complaint, no midi out, but even when I dbrouille.

A true love story, for my part

Propellerheads comes out with Reason 6 which is basically Reason 5 + Record wrapped into one package with a couple of added units. The crossover from Reason 5 to Reason 6 was easy, installation was a breeze. I did have a little issue using the dongle (was mainly user error)

The application is really crowded,I hated this with record and don't feel as if i will ever get use to it in reason 6. So for me personally this is not an easy application to navigate compared to other versions of reason

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I've been using Reason 6 since beta and it's been a stable application, I've run into no compatibility issues nor performance issues. The app still is CPU friendly, this is the only reason(no pun intended) that I've been a die had fan for as long as I have. It's the core of my production studio and sound designer rig. The application reads external controllers easily and if you can't seem find you controller you can also add it in as a generic controller (like in previous versions)

OVERALL OPINION

Reason 6 sounds excellent (if you're excellent) see Reason has always been one of those software applications where it's quality is strictly determined by the user. The only thing I like about this new version is the new mixer that has been included (from record) what I had is they screwed up the simplicity of the software making it cluttered (like record is) that really upsets me. I like things to flow easily when I'm creating.

What I love most is that I only had to spend $1.00 for my upgrade. I think if I had to come out of pocket $130.00 (considering I already have reason and record) propellerheads would have lost a very valuable customer.

As usual with ProppellerHead the installation is done in one click, the manual is clear and also in French (1088 pages).

Although the more complete interface demands a bit more from a CPU, Reason 6 is a model of stability and resource management processor.

- To set the tempo to a track you must go through several stages, or Ableton Live .

Conclusion
Despite some flaws mentioned above. Reason 6 is for a band / amateur musician, the most complete software that sounds good with effects of very high quality.
Moreover, Reason has a big community online and many tutorials are available on the web.
