It seems to me that Cubase SE is the version of Cubase integrated into the "pack" STUDIO CASE I just bought 15 days ago.

On my computer PIV 3.06 GHz, 512 RAM and a sound card EDIROL UA-1000, I have obviously no compatibility issues all of which are new.

Performance? It possde any of a large Cubase SX, finally I talk to I really need, I served as a platform for recording and programming instrument VST (DKFH, Absynth ..)
All options are clear and simple to take in hand, in quality 24bit audio, effect Intgr basic (nothing too exciting but good), MIDI programming tool essential (VLOC quantification, short everything it takes), masterering super simple and automation take over, using the pencil trace the curve of the desired volume, equalization ... I even used to grate the live samples and no crash. In short it is a comprehensive tool that allows me to discovering the world and much of the studio, in the end its startling rsultats.

I often use Cubase (SX version with a friend). So I used the software and my compos t had registered on this app. So I wanted the acqurir without resorting to piracy (I know I'm too honnte but will not remake), and without putting 750 (a wrong right?).

So I Discoveries that "light" version of Cubase 175 (studio box with some VSTi supplmentaires is 300 but are they all ncessaires?) To my dealer prf r and I t more than surprised: I found everything (everything) to see more than what I used dj in Cubase SX and most importantly what I needed to record, edit, mix all my little music. It records in 24 bit / 96 kHz and allows insrer enough plug-ins for a small production of good quality trs.

And plug-ins and VSTi I needed, I found plthore of free VST and additional trs good quality on the net (those who want to have to quickly find that typing "freeware" in the search engine of this marvelous Fanzine and go all there).
In short, the happiness, the software runs well enough on my config and poses no probmme my Terratec Phase 22. Sr, if he sends 30 tracks with 10 inserts per track, 5 and 8 send VSTi, it will not like and bte will crash. But fun to make as much? So let's be mad, 8 / 10 for this item.

I know little other income (Pro-Tools at the top) but Lorqui we are well accustomed to work on a soft, sometimes it is difficult to change. So for those who like to work on Cubase and wish acuqrir an affordable version, go ahead.

For those who want a acqurir squenceur without a prior touch: check out at a friend and you could buy it, you'll have to record audio in studio quality and from the south using full Free VSTi and couraging and a small production of pro-quality quasi.

I use it for a month and was able couraging a small CD of five songs not dgueux (rsultat at the sound, I mean. APRS, for style and music, adpend gots). 8 / 10 also (I know I may be gnreux).

Configuration: not very, there are subtleties with the input / output: a single configuration menu could allow an easier setup. But, the range of possibilities offered by the beast partly explains this complexity.
The manual is not wrong. on the other hand, large criticizes Steinberg, even for the price, you should still have a manual edit of the advanced features that are described in a pdf of 600 pages! Okay so I have a laptop (yes) AMD Athlon 1.7 GHz, 448 MB RAM, 40 GB hard drive, Creative PCMCIA Sound Card Audigy 2 ZS Notebook (not bad: 24-bit recording, ASIO + an excellent line input / microphone, ideal choice for laptops). So it's not a config dream, especially since it is not dedicated to audio ...

the software works pretty: only problem, I sometimes stalls mono-stereo. After that it is related to my sound card or cubase, hard to say. Finally we get out.

Performance is good for this config, with many recording audio and MIDI tracks read quite powerful. no problem. The config is stable overall, although it never prevents crashes with some freeware VST instruments: we must take his time.

I use it for a short month.
I especially like the clarity of the interface, much more "logical" to me than Tracktion, for example.
I used earlier Cubase VST, but I wanted to go for Cubase Rewire with Reason function, which allows me to edit the sound and integrate vsti, so as not to make use only of the Subtractor and Malström . So, it opens new possibilities.
The SE version good enough for me, I do not have big ambitions.

Works perfectly, no perceptible latency, response time excellent.
I use for my productions up to 20 MIDI tracks, and from 12 to 16 audio tracks.
Very stable configuration. If huge lag after tampering parameters of the sound card, exit and restart the PC, and everything becomes calm and clear.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years. I particularly appreciate its user friendliness. I wish I had more opportunity to recalculate a MIDI from an imported audio track.
I 'have not tested other sequencers for PC, I'm only guaranteed to have the features needed for my level of use.
Price / quality ratio very good. I would maintain that choice if it again.

No installation problems but that's the minimum you can ask for. However it requires a USB key so you'll have one USB port less on your computer. For the same price MC 4 is much better.
