Muse Research and Development has started shipping their new Receptor VIP dedicated hardware plug-in player.
This new software-powered music instrument features a simple hardware interface for loading and manipulating virtual instruments and effects at a gig, combined with a new graphical user interface that lets you edit and program virtual instruments and effects by attaching a mouse, monitor and keyboard. Featuring stereo inputs and outputs, along with a MIDI input and a footswitch for changing presets, the Receptor VIP has a MAP price of $1599 US and is available now worldwide.
The Receptor VIP is designed to make Receptor more affordable and easier to use, thanks to the new front panel hardware interface, and a new "rack-style" graphical user interface.
It is suited for using virtual instruments like Native Instrument Komplete 8, Synthogy Ivory 2, IK Total Workstation, and others. The Receptor VIP features a custom OS and application software designed to let the 3GHz dual-core processor focus its attention on running the virtual instruments.
For guitarist and singers, Receptor VIP has front panel combi-jacks with XLR and 1/4-inch inputs for microphones and guitars. You can play keyboards and process vocals at the same time as well.
The bundled software includes about 4GB of sampled sounds in the MusePlayer sample player, powered by the UVI engine. Additionally, synthesizers from Applied Acoustics, Camel Audio, U-he, ForeFront, and more round out the sound palette.
On the effects front you get ReValver HP guitar amp modeling, along with WaveArts MasterVerb 4 reverb and TrackPlug 4 channel strip processing, Camel Phat and Camel Space delay / filter effects, and more.
