Great Blues Harp!

I love this harmonica! It's my favorite among all of my diatonics (I have the Marine Band Special 20s and the Blues Harp in D.) It's warm and throaty and allows for easy bending. Fantastic!

Not being a very experienced harmonica player, I wanted to find out more about which models were good and why. Hohner is a name that consistently popped up, and being a big blues fan, I really wanted to check this one out. I'm glad I did. The main features of this harmonica that separate it from the so-called Marine Brand harps are the ability to really bend the pitches. This is absolutely crucial in Blues playing, on instruments as well as in singing. The vibrato and bends that are possible on this machine are pretty stellar. I've read online in the time since I bought my instrument that the reeds are too thin and are less quality than the Marine Brand. I didn't really agree at the...…

I didn't really agree at the time, and have since read a detailed report that this is not the case, so don't believe those rumors. I'm not quite that experienced on the harmonica yet, but I've found that I have more flexibility with this than with other Hohner harmonicas. At the same time, it's a little bit difficult to master, as I haven't quite mastered the art form yet. But this harp is definitely more fun to play than most others I've tried. The sound is very quality to me, as far as I can tell. Strong, supple and gritty, it gives a really down-home, country feel to the music I make, even if I'm playing straight blues. It reminded me enough of my Bruce and Neil Young records for me to enjoy it. It certainly resembles their playing more than, say, Dylan or John Popper (possibly due to my own playing style or lack thereof). And I friend of mine let me try it in his mic and amplifier combo (I don't recall the types, sorry). Either way, distorting the harmonica makes it sound pretty amazing for rock bands. We also experimented with heavy reverb and delay and got a very impressive and enormous sound out of it. Electrically or Acoustically, this is a pretty great instrument. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially considering it's not crazy expensive.

I've had the Hohner Blues Harp harmonica for about a year and it has definitley served me well in trying to learn the harmonica. These harps come in a variety of different keys, but the one I have is in the key of C. Not only is this a good looking harmonica on the outside of it, but it also has a great sound to it and is very easy to play. It feels good to blow into it and get an easy great sound from it and while I've certainly heard some better harmonicas, none of them were in this price range. I've used this harmonica both for recording and for live shows and while I'm pretty new at playing harp, I definitely feel that I've gotten my moneys worth for this harmonica. While this isn't...…

I've used this harmonica both for recording and for live shows and while I'm pretty new at playing harp, I definitely feel that I've gotten my moneys worth for this harmonica. While this isn't the cheapest harmonica out there, (as even Hohner makes full sets of harmonicas for a little more than the cost of this one) it will certainly last you a long time and has a much better tone quality than most cheaper harmonicas out there. If you are new to the harmonica I would probably recommend something a little cheaper to get your feet wet with before getting a nicer one like this, but we're only talking about a small savings as the Hohner Blues Harp isn't that expensive to begin with. As I dive into the world of playing harmonica, the Hohner Blues Harp has give me a relatively cheap option that sounds great and is easy to play. Whether you are just trying to learn or are an established player, the Hohner Blues Harp is a great choice for playing all types of music, but of course is best for blues. All in all I highly recommend the Hohner Blues Harp as a great choice for any harmonica player.

Solid, but a little too

I play the harmonica for several years, mainly blues, and I tested a lot of models of harmonica, but especially in hohner suzuki or lee harp.
The big advantage of the blues harp is that they are extremely strong harmonicas. I have a more than 6 years, and for some it is a bit maintained, it has not changed. The bends and other game effects have a tendency, on the marine band harmonicas as to the damaging and breaking the most requested strip (4th sucked for me).

on the other hand I find the sound of the blues harp a bit dull, dull, lacking in clarity. I also think, and this is the main problem, the notes tend to have trouble getting out. Sometimes the 3rd hole blown produce a sound...…

Sometimes the 3rd hole blown produce a sound that split second after I started blowing. It may be a problem with my technique, but I have this problem on any other harmonica (except for suzuki, which are yet harmonicas rather upscale).

I've long been a supporter since broke, these extremely durable harmonicas but I rather preferred the navy band so the sound is brighter and rounder notes mouths, more "controllables" decline.
