«  Change the pickups and all will be well in the world. »

Everything is said in other reviews, or almost. It is imperative if we want a "real" guitar (although the sheraton is very correct to base) to change the pickups. His violin is impeccable, very close to the ESS in terms of type and quality above all, into a means-end guitar, Gibson / Epiphone have caught on microphones (and metal parts: bridge, frets, mechanical ... ). For my part I mounted P-90 Benedetti above.

UTILIZATION

The neck of this guitar is a marvel in terms of touch. Which is quite normal when you know that all ESS models were directly inspired by Sheraton ... We walk upwards as on a freeway, it's pretty neat.

But it was a great hit, the neck is very heavy! the guitar is unfortunately not very well balanced. That said when you play it by the handle that holds, so for me it's a minor drawback, if not anecdotal, but there it can interfere, so it is important I think of the state.

In my case I play a Mexican hot rod and as I have said above changed the pickups, and I've always played on Fender amps. Each of tampering to find his sound to it, but actually, you plug it sounds.

SOUNDS

I'm in a pop / pop rock record, and this guitar is basically a blues guitar, so it works very well! Given the changes that I made it a very specific sound, and with a draft of the low string harmonies stand out beautifully. It also has a very wide range of sounds: not to mention effect already, just knob on the guitar, putting himself on the bridge pickup and lowering the presence knob you get a great sound a bit tinny, vintage wish , I do not see how to get another guitar, apart from the ESS and the Rickenbacker hollowbody can be. And putting the selector in the middle and down the volume of the two microphones, one surprisingly close to a sound ... acoustic guitar. The latter must also play with the amp to make it work really well, but it is quite impressive when you take the time to refine this aspect.

And when we put on the neck pickup, you get a super hot round and his (the one I use the most), which I accompany with a reverb room (rather strong, even very), chorus (a delay hijacked rather in chorus), delay and overdrive (not quite all the time of course, it would be a shame not to take advantage of this clear natural sound)

OVERALL OPINION

I've had about 4 years and do not regret at all it cost me about 600 €, a little less.

In terms of value for money, once spent with the luthier, we are left with the third sister ESS 335 and 337 altogether. So in my opinion one of the best quality / price ratio that we can find
