This guitar is made in China, licensed Hagstrom, a factory fitted and equipped by the new firm Hagstrom. An American luthier who worked for a great American brand would guarantee quality ... I think it does its job quite well!
The model draws heavily, if not a replica (with some modifications) of the model "Jimmy", designed by the great luthier James D'Aquisto at the request of the firm in the 50's Hagstrom.
This is a semi-hollow guitar with 2 humbuckers Hagstrom, neck pickup selector, bridge, 2 volume, 2 tone with microphone. Flamed maple body in, touches wood composite (extraordinarily smooth!) Floating Bridge Ebony.
UTILIZATION
The handle of the Hagstrom is very nice and fast. It does not feel the frets on the side of the neck when playing on my Gibson ES335 like.
I have not changed the strings (from 11-48 I think) but the action of this guitar is so well settled that it is very easy to play. (I usually type Stratocaster guitars - a Fender + and a G & L Legacy - I would say that the neck is as fast)
Access to acute is medium, such as guitars. She is not heavy, it's a box (logic), the large size of the body (like any type semi-hollow guitar) do not bother, we do not tire.
Very nice sound, well articulated Notes. The sound is a little less "woody" Jimmy the original, but it sounds still very Jazz. To my taste, better clean, but it would lend itself well to blues with a slight overdrive.
I am amazed at the sustain, especially for this type of guitar.
SOUNDS
I bought it for the Jazz, so this guitar is absolutely the case. It sounds divinely!
I play with a Peavey Classic, I do not think it is the ideal amp for this guitar. I'd have to try it with my Carlsbro.
You can get a well rounded and clear without any aggressiveness. And it sounds! I've always had a preference for micro sleeve, and this guitar is the same, but the mixture of the two microphone is also very beautiful. I never tire of listening ...
OVERALL OPINION
I received it last week and I'm still not back from the beauty and quality of this guitar. She has a look and a class and above an incredible (both than done).
I tried a Michael Kelly Velvet II in the same price category, but there is no comparison.
There are some small flaws that could have been avoided (eg small plaque that hides access to trussrod is not screwed right, and the screws that hold the plate visible ebony) the only flats .. .
But the price / quality ratio is unheard of and I suggest anyone who can not afford a guitar 2-3 times more expensive, they will not be disappointed, not surprised.
I would say in conclusion: for the price, you can not blame him the little imperfections that I have found it worth 2-3 times its price. Yes, I would do the same choice ... though, since mine is in natural finish, maybe I would buy a sunburst.
