How to soundproof your studio
After the theoretical review of the last article, today we'll start getting our hands dirty keeping in mind that there are as many different home studios as there are home studio owners.

a very complete article, thank you for sharing it with us

At home I work in a very small space. The solution was moving panels. Basically the panels hang in a frame with hinges on the top side. Mass = panel which start to move if low frequencies hit them & absorbing materials on the front " traps " the mid high frequencies. Even helmholtz resonators can be mounted on them to keep the room alive.

It works great and do not "eat" a lot of space.
Some frames are less then 15 cm deep.
To get /handle a lot of bass the frames carry very heavy panels :)

Can wait for your next article

I can't say enough about fire proof / fire resistant materials. The Oakland warehouse fire was last night. Started at a rave. They expect 40 or more dead.

Most home studios have a jumble of power strips and power cords which can work their way loose. Install a smoke detector in the room and get a medium size ABC fire extinguisher and keep it out in an obvious place. Mounted on a wall near the exit door is best. Remember, you point it at the base of the flames, not the flames themselves. Ask a fireman, paramedic or police officer to explain how to use one. The time to figure this out is ahead of time. Not when you are faced with a fire. A fire extinguisher effectively used in the first few minutes of a fire can put it out. Once the fire spreads up a wall, get yourself and others out closing doors behind you. Closed doors will slow the spread of the fire down. Hopefully long enough for the fire department to get there.

Sorry about the downer, but the Oakland Fire Department is just starting to pull the bodies out.

Well don't be.

risk of fire is a good thing to think about when building your studio and buying your materials.

A good studio is a save one.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Because people start building with wood and fabrics and not thinking about this......

We heard the news and feel sorry for their families..... Our hearts will be with them and may God give them all the support needed.
