    Do not buy

    AKG C 2000Published on 07/29/12 at 23:02
The AKG C 2000 is a very inexpensive microphone more so aimed at for artist who are just starting out, or just looking for there first microphone. Do not expect to get a high end recording with this microphone because it just wont happen and its not possible. However, it does have a pretty flat response with a bass roll off. The AKG C 2000 seems to have all of the specs of a higher more expensive microphone , that is until you purchase it and start using it you will notice right away that the quality isn’t up to par. The AKG C 2000 is a condenser microphone and I feel that its one of the worst condensers that AKG has put out. But they do say they aimed it for the beginner so I guess that is…

The AKG C 2000 is a condenser microphone and I feel that its one of the worst condensers that AKG has put out. But they do say they aimed it for the beginner so I guess that is understandable. It is a cardioid polar pattern and can be used in a studio setting or in a live on stage setting as it does well in a live setting because it wont pick up a lot of the outside noises and sounds that are in bars and clubs, etc.

    OVERALL OPINION

The best part of this microphone is the bass cut filter, it seems like they put a lot more time into the cut off filter than they should have. It has a great cut off to get rid off a lot like other instruments or background sounds. The AKG C 2000 is very well built and can take a few nicks and scrapes along the way, but there are just so many other microphones that will sound so much better than the AKG C 2000 so I am very upset that I made this purchase years ago. I used it for about 8 months then sold it, I made the original purchase back in March of 2005. The AKG C 2000 cost me about 200 dollars when it came out, I feel that was about 100 dollars over priced. You can get a better microphone for that same price. Do not buy.

On acoustic guitars, it has nice attacks and a lot of body, just found the right résumé emplacement.En great value quality price, despite some small default (which can serve this cut down ...), but for the price ... It's a deal.

    Cheap Condenser!

    AKG C 2000Published on 04/25/11 at 19:32
This is a really, really low-priced condenser microphone. It's technically a small diaphragm condenser, even though it looks kind of big and is shaped like a large-diaphragm condenser. I wouldn't really consider it ideal for live situations, but it is kind of cheap, so you could try it on certain things. I'd say for the most part, though, it's more of a home-studio mic. It uses phantom power so make sure your pre-amp supplies it, or you have a backup phantom power supply.

I was surprised at how good this microphone was for the price. For an entry-level engineer, it's not bad at all. As far as which instruments I'd use it on, I've experimented with it a bit, and I've found that mostly, it's got a great midrange response. It's high end leaves a little bit to be desired, which is a shame as it's a small-diaphragm, and they tend to have good high-end response. I think it's best used on warm, mid-rangey sounds. Certain acoustics and electric guitars sound great. Pianos leave a lot to be desired, unless you are going for a muffled, dull sound. I don't like using it as a drum overhead, which is kind of what I had expected to use it as (being that it's a small diaphragm condenser). It also doesn't sound too great on vocals.
It's not that noisy for a cheap mic, and it definitely has some good uses. If you wanna learn the ropes of recording, and experiment with a lot of stuff, this is a good tool to do it with. That being said, I'd never use it in a professional studio, assuming I had better options.
