1 Low output on sm57 to mic a violin live
Hello people! just as the title says, the violinist in my band uses a sm57 to mic his instrument live but almost everytime the FOH has trouble matching up the volumes of the band, almost everytime resulting in the violin sounding lower than the others, in and outside the stage. :|
Maybe we just came across some unexperienced sound guys, but Ive read that the sm57 is, besides being really really good, a low output mic that needs a lot of gain (corrct me if Im wrong).
So I wonder, is there any devices capable of boosting this mic? (without or with the less quality loss, of course), since phantom power has no effect on it...
Thanks in advance, Ill be waiting your suggestions!

PD: its a tango band: (acoustic) violin, contrabass, bandoneon, piano and singer.

I think it is best to look for a special clip-on microphone special made for violins.
It will give the player more freedom to play his/her instrument
