    Boss DB-30 Metronome

Boss DB-30 Dr. BeatPublished on 02/06/11 at 15:00
I've used this metronome in all of my years as a student as well as as a teacher. I've been playing piano seriously since I was just a little boy and bass since middle school. I'm currently not in a band...just teaching at the moment. It's palm-sized and black. More to follow in the review...

I got it because I needed a portable metronome. It was only about $30 at the time I purchased it from Volkwein's (one of the last purchases I ever made there...) back in 2002 or so. It was cheap, and the Boss Dr. Beat series has gotten plenty of well-deserved good press, so it was an easy decision.

Incredibly long battery life, for one thing. I've only had to change the battery four or five times in those 8 years that I've owned it, and considering the fact that I use it daily, that's not bad at all. It'll do anything from 2/4 to 7/4 with a couple clave rhythms inbetween, and it'll play various subdivisions within that structure. It also has a little clip on the back so it can sit on your belt or on a music stand. Definitely helpful. It can also be used to give drone notes for tuning instruments or having something to tune to in exercises for string instruments. Having a headphone jack helps as well, especially for use in live performances when a song's tempo is critical.

I would like to see more polyrhythms and styles represented, and I'd like more control over what subdivisions are played, but that's something that is already represented in a higher model. So I guess I'm not really complaining with this one. I'm just ready to move on.

It's plenty sturdy, looks sleek, and plays great.

The Dr. Beat metronomes are the best drummers you'll ever play with. And you can carry them in your pocket.

I use it for several months. We manage everything on this little metronome. All rhythmic figures are available (or asymmetric measures including slaves counted in the black at the eighth, the wrong time ...). There is no way to enter the desired tempo with the tap button. The volume is adjustable, you just plug in headphones or monitor with LED. There is also a mode that gives all the notes to match.
    Perfect companion for work alone.

I use it for several months.
I can not do without the headphones: volume low enough in the ears, the sound is soft - unlike some metronomes strident.
The display and the LEDs are good guides. Little more enjoyable: tap tempo function.
Very convenient, small, flat, one can hang from his belt with clip.
Wide range of rhythmic patterns / actions.
I found it at 22 euros, an excellent quality / price ratio: the choice I would do without hesitation.

How long have you use it?
    - A few weeks

What is so special that you like most and least?
Tap-down time! It's huge, pure essential pout you leave me ... you have a melody in the head, or want to know the tempo of any song ... you mark the pulse (between 30 and 250 bpm) the key and the screen will show the tempo played! a huge impetus to work!

on the other hand, it's just a shame we can not generate more asymmetric measures I would have liked the work 3 / 5 notament ... but it's not so bad .. ca is quite complete ...

    - Have you tried many other models before buying it?

How would you rate the quality / price?
-Very good! no problem, compact, accurate, comprehensive, intuitive, large pannel of possibility and that's really motivating! for € 22 is a bargain!

With experience, you do again this choice? ...
    -Again! great product!

Buy a used Baguetterie the past few days, this metronome is very attractive.
It supports many forms rithmyques: black, eighth, triplets, triplets with silence, against time, sixteenth notes, claves ... and rises to a tempo of 250 could ask for more?
it is small clips to the belt .. How perfect, headphone jack (for the battery is great with headphones closed as the T.bone HD-990D) there are LEDs that light up to see the tempo, following the beats are different such as 4 / 4 Ti Ti Tou Tou Tou Tou ... etc marking the start of measurement is characterized by a different sound ..

    Good buy / good metronome

To answer the question no it is not backlit but there are still two red LEDs (visible) which indicates the exact tempo (the screen is of course not bright either)

Otherwise it is a useful purchase, I use it mostly for the guitar work has an opportunity to play.
I is not much to add to that is stated previously by a good product that is well done (setting the beat, tap function, headphone jack etc ...) and that the rugged area.

I put 9 because I think (despite the quality) 30 € this is an expensive can.
A yes on the sound of "bib" I do not find them particularly uncomfortable but I think it's a matter of taste.
