When no MIDI surface control suits you, just build it. That's the conclusion MachineWerks came to and they are now introducing the CS X51.

MachineWerks is a british manufacturer who decided to get into the MIDI control surface battle with CS X51, a project you can currently fund on KickStarter.

The CS X51 is a compact MIDI surface control (390 × 184 × 57mm, 1.4kg) made of aluminum and featuring 28 rotary encoders, seven 45mm sliders (6 inline and 1 horizontal) and a 4×4 button matrix, all assignable. Blue LEDs are also included and MIDI In and Out are sent via USB or 5-pin DIN connectors.

The control surface can be used with or without computer, in standalone mode it requires a 9V DC power supply.

MachineWerks adds that they wish to build the device in the UK, as much as possible.

The CS X51 is expected in January, 2014 if the £27 000 necessary funds are reached prior to October 5th on KickStarter. The price for the 100 first funders is £275 (+£25 for international shipping), and then will raise to £300.

Discover the CS X51 at www.kickstarter.com.
