Bome Software has released v1.8 for its MIDI Translator mapping software and says that its BomeBox hardware will go into production this summer.
MIDI Translator is a utility that allows you to map and control different MIDI hardware and software and you keystrokes or mouse commands that will be translated into MIDI data. The software allows for achieving different input, processing and output actions and Bome, along with the community, provides multiple presets to help you use the application.
MIDI Translator has just been updated to version 1.8 in order to add many improvements, such as:
- No need to install Java
- Improved GUI
- Serial Port support for input and output actions, ability to use these ports as MIDI ports and set aliases for this Serial Ports
- Direct support for 14-bit controllers and (N)RPN messages
- Ability to select MIDI messages by type
- Improved “pending” MIDI port management, which will always be open when they become available
- Ability to use short names for the virtual MIDI ports
- Up to 9 virtual MIDI ports available
- Support for AppleScript on Mac OS X
- New “Text Output” mode for the keystrokes
- Improved support for international keyboards
- New rule operators
- Ability to add comments and empty lines in the rules
- Undo/Redo for the rule editor
- Various improvements and fixes
MIDI Translator Pro is available on Windows and Mac OS X for 59 €. A limited Classic version for Windows can be download for free for personal use and OEM/Player options are also available. You’ll find more details about the update at www.bome.com/products/miditranslator.
Bome also announces that its BomeBox MIDI hub should enter production this summer for release in September. The BomeBox allows for connecting and mapping MIDI devices via MIDI, Ethernet, WiFi and USB without the need for a computer, and even connect USB MIDI devices together and power them through the BomeBox. The hub will be compatible with projects created with MIDI Translator Pro software.
The BomeBox features two Ethernet ports, a USB MIDI port, MIDI input and output as well as buttons for WiFi activation and device pairing. The device will be powered via a simple cellphone charger and Bome says that HD protocole will be supported in the future.
