Epiphone Eb3 5-String Bass

Epiphone EB-35Published on 12/01/07 at 15:00
I have been playing since 1969. I have used many basses. Have always been a Cream fan so the EB3 was a favorite. I play in a Classic Rock band and this bass is perfect. I am a fan of Jack Bruce,John Entwhistle, & Paul McCartney so I love this bass. I am also getting a 4 string version also, just for a change.

I acquired my bass on Ebay. I buy all my equipment on Ebay. It was new and I got it at an amazing price of $220.oo with a HSC.

It has a 5 position switch for the pickups so u get an amazing tonal variances. What more can I say either get u a 5 string or a 4 string and u will not be dissappointed. I also use a Thunderbird, a Fender Jazz 5-string, and a Cort Curbow with active...…

The only thing I do not like it is a bit neck heavy but I have gotten use to it due to the fact my Thunderbird is also.

I have not found any problem with construction or quality. Sounds great, holds up great, looks great.

Anyone who wants a Vintage look in a 5 string , this is the way to go.

Epiphone EB-5 5 String Bass

Epiphone EB-35Published on 06/17/03 at 15:00
I got the Epiphone EB5 from Musician's Friend online. They called it the EB3 5-string, but the real name is the EB5. I got it for $249. I wanted to step up a notch in my bass playing area by buying a 5-string bass. I wanted to be able to play different styles such as metal.

This bass sounds great. The neck isn't too wide and it has a very comfortable feel, just as the SG guitars.

Everything is fine about the bass except the weight and placement of one of the strap pins. The bass is a little heavy, being that it is made of almost full mohagony. The strap pin on the back of the bass is inconvenient. Since it is there, the bass turns (neck going down to the ground) when you do not...…

The bass is very strong. The quality is great. It has 2 dual rail pickups.

Overall the bass is great. I love the bass and play it everyday. With a good amp (and pedals if you use them) this is one of the best sounding basses I have ever played.

Epiphone EB3 5-String Bass

Epiphone EB-35Published on 01/26/03 at 15:00
I felt it was time to move up to a 5-string bass, so I immediately went to the Musician's Friend web site. I was amazed to find an Epiphone EB3 5-string bass with a retail value of $799 on internet special for only $249. I almost broke my arm getting my credit card from my wallet and buying a ticket to bass heaven.

The comfortable and classic SG-style body feels so "right", and the full 34" scale allows my fingers to float through the notes and patterns that distinguish a real bass player. Choosing the perfect blend and degree of bass sounds from the dual-rail humbucker pickups is a breeze with the hand, front-mounted selection switch. The overall appearance of my ebony black bass...…

Choosing the perfect blend and degree of bass sounds from the dual-rail humbucker pickups is a breeze with the hand, front-mounted selection switch. The overall appearance of my ebony black bass with the gleaming chromed hardware is an eyefull that brings instant drool from other pickers. My favorite "like" is the fact I now have a thoroughly professional quality instrument with the versatility to cover bluegrass, country, rock 'n roll, and jazz on which to teach my teenage son to play basss "like his old man". The guitar comes ready to play right out of the box thanks to the intense factory setups.

The fact I didn't purchase this bass sooner, because I was content to just get by on a 4-string Fender. Otherwise, there is nothing to dislike with the EB3 5-string.

A solid mahogany body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard make the EB3 an axe to be played hard, put away wet, and rode again and again for years to come. The pickups, tuners, and body hardware are first rate accoutrements that give off an aura of quality and pleasure to the user and the looker.

I've played professional bass guitar for 42 years, spanning styles, methods, and genres and never found a guitar such as this to become an extension of myself. This bass is heart and soul to a player and eye candy for the audience. There is nothing to do wrong in buying this bass, except not to buy it!
