« Reviews Ibanez Sr-3005 Prestige Made in Japan-the Rolls Royce of the low »

Published on 07/24/11 at 04:45
Hello,
Happy owner of the prestigious 3005 SR 3 years already since this is the best bass I have and on which I played.
Characteristics:
-First, this model prestige (numbered) is made in Japan and it feels right now!
Ibanez makes some very good bass but now the finish is perfect ... in the woods, body shape perfectly adjusted very fine and beautiful, round the junction body, the key inlays, general ergonomics .. .'s really VERY good!
-5 String
Bartolini Pickups Custom-USA designed specifically for this model
Bois carefully selected by hand:
-Thin mahogany body (oiled: very beautiful and super soft to the touch)
Channel Prestige 5 piece Bubinga / Wenge end super highway ... what!
beautiful pearl inlay on the key (key wenge BEAUTIFUL!) -24 frets. Bolt.
-Active (9V)
EQ-3 bands (Low / medium / high) with vari mid 3: choice of frequencies and levels of meduims.
-1 Volume
-1 Micro balance
Bridge-Monorail (independent for each string)
(The knobs are two EQUAL Levels: 1 knobs: downstairs bass / treble top floor, two knobs: midrange parametric downstairs floor of the frequencies of médiumset high frequencies chosen mediums)
Acastillage chrome-black super-class (I hate gold that I find a little too bling-bling ... matter of taste)
Plate (Pearl) numbered encrusted on the front of the head

UTILIZATION

The ergonomics of this bass is just perfect.
Super nice & easy to play. Its weight is more than reasonable for a 5 string (4 kg) and do not destroy your back.
The handle is perfect fine and super stable as the only Ibanez knows them and can feel the difference even with made in Japan.
I set the action level with the frets without any problem playing comfort incredible.
In strings, I only use Elixir Nanoweb Extra light.Sonne great and they are the ones that suit me best (I do not therefore bourrine extralight flush frets is the top).
The access to acute perfect until the 24th fret.

Its level, it's big and good sound:
Its deep-highs with very fine (very bright but never snapping) with a good tweeter on his amp, it's a slap in the super late ... a real treat.
-The mahogany gives a girl's very hot and deep, with parametric mids (eq vari mid) there is really all sounds possible imagine. It provides a versatile low at will: it can happen in all styles without problems, the heavy sounds of dub sounds very jazz or Pastorius.
The choice of frequency, the greater the Bartolini pickups and bass & treble adjustments allow you to find all the sounds possible, especially your sound !!!!.

For even more versatility in live, I added two small switch that allows me to cut the treble and midrange position "knob in the center."
It allows me to choose a more acute (acute knob to 3 / 4 for example) for the slap and stiffly cut key set to "neutral" (acute knob in the center) for a more rhythmic round, for example (the reverse is also possible: I cut a lot of very sharp for his Motown hop and I cut the switch and I'm back with a more standard rhythm).
So I did the same thing with the knob medium that influences the choice of frequency: I can choose a frequency mediums "on Pastorius' for a piece or part and I hop back and I swich on the midrange position Neutral.
It is not hard to do: just plug the switch knob on each selected and it's great practice for live, a range of different sounds in an instant without touching either pedal, or knobs, or amps!

SOUNDS

This allows low so any style of music and sounds: modern roots in the jazz bass, thanks to the patorius bridge pickups and midrange frequency selection, in short everything reggae and always with a very personal sound this bass ... is anything but cold and without character!!
I poosède or is possessed quite low for 16 years and this one ... but this one ....; D. .. I keep it for life that much is sure! this is my best low:
-Son (wood / pickups / settings)
Comfort-touch / Thurs
-Reliable (does not clog the handle of a mn)

I love the sound with microphones with the balance a little less than one quarter to the bridge pickup, a little extra in a medium hop ... it grooowwwwl!
I set my neck pickup slightly lower than the bridge pickup to compensate for the difference in volume between the two (as almost all the bass, the neck pickup with very large and super low fat potato!)
Attention, due to sound quality, if the game is "bad" is immediately punished .. breads or fret noises immediately agree ... it obviously does not forgive!

OVERALL OPINION

I have this bass for 3 years (bought used because no longer done since 2003)
Mine is 2003 (Barto micro version). Equivalents following models with the prestigious 4000 and SR 4005 (5 string) and a very close évoulution recently with the prestigious SR 5000 & 5005
I find it PERFECT!
-Finish: 10/10 (I love the oil finish beautiful and super soft to the touch, glide perfectly along the handle even after 3 hours)
-Son 10/10 (special mention for the vari-mid!)
-Comfort / Thurs: 10/10

Overall Rating 10/10, this bass is perfect for me, I agree 100%
I never tire of seeing it and play it! a treat ...
The mahogany body has a very different reflections depending on the light ... every day what his bass; D!

PS: I just change over the original plastic knobs practice but I do not find very nice, I chose knobs with chrome finish and black pearl stick very well on it.

I do it again this choice without any problems! is low for the life ... trying to adopt ...
