Azuma's review (EastWest - rare ethnic instruments)

By Azuma, 26/02/2013
This pack works on any platform either Windows XP, Windows Seven or MAC OS without any compatibility issues.

The manual included with the program is great , EQWL made a good detailed book explaining how exactly the instruments interact and how you can get the most from them.

The general configuration and setup is quite fast , I haven't had any problems with it , and it took me a short amount of time to get it done.

The typical functions aren't very advanced to start with , everything is quite easy to understand and straight forward.

The software works very perfect in this configuration , the program itself is made by East West Quantum Leap , so everything is as smooth as posible.

The gear and software are very stable and work very good without any type of crashes or break downs.

I've been using this product for about 2 years , it's a very distinct kind of pack that combines those old sounds , tribe kinda sounds to the new ones , analog based.

What like most about it is that you have something that's unique , rare and you can use it where ever you want to achieve a certain harmony or just in a solo.

I like the sounds of the instruments that are samples based , the duduk and sarangi sound very distinct and good , and of course you have the chinese bong , taiko and many other cool instruments.

My opinion about the value of price is great , I really do think this pack is quite unique and it deserves the money without any doubts , the role of these instruments is huge so keep that in mind.

Precision and quality of the sound is 10/10 , very powerful instruments to have in your own library.

Knowing what I know , I would make the same choice and buy this amazing rare instruments pack.

JoeW1's review (EastWest - rare ethnic instruments)

By JoeW1, 25/03/2013
Rare Instruments made by EWQL are compatible with different working platforms like Xp , Vista , 7 or MAC.

The manual that is included with the software is pretty detailed , enough to obtain the necessary information of how the instruments work.

The setup doesn't require a lot of time or effort , it's very fast and easy to manage.

The software works great in its configuration.

The software is sample based , so the level of stability is a must , very decent product from east west quantum leap as you would expect from such a huge company.

I'm getting great performances combining their distinct sound in my mixes.

What I really like about this product , is how distinct the sounds are , the touch that they have on mixes , the instruments were recorder on some vintage microphones which give a certain color to the sound.
The instruments were recorded on Neumann U67 and Neuman M50 and of couple other high quality mics as East West Quantum Leap declared.

The sound is clear and broad , the instruments recorder are typical found in Africa, Europe, India, Americas and Australia, the Far East, and the Middle East and Turkish Empires.

My opinion about the value for the price is great , the price range goes about to 350$ but still it deserves the money mainly because of how unique the sounds are.

Precision and quality of the sound is dead on , very clear , powerful , intense sounding instruments from east west quantum leap, 10/10 no doubts.

I've tried different packs that included some unique instruments , this is on a completely new level.

Knowing what I know , I would buy this product if I'll need something more traditional based , more ethnic which can be applied in some filming or scoring type of sounds.

Popularized by Jimmy Page, the Sounds Still Remain Practical and Relevant (Eventide - Model H 949 Plug-in)

By MGR/Brian Johnston, 14/10/2019
Popularized by Jimmy Page, this plug-in is based on Eventide’s H949, its first de-glitched micro-pitched harmonizer. You can operate it as a single unit, but also in Dual mode for stereo widening, doubling and reverse link pitch alteration. Besides micro-pitch shifting (including reverse pitch-shifting) and intervals (e.g., octave, minor second up, perfect fifth down, etc.), there are great sounding delays (randomized and reverse), flangers and special effects, with presets ideal for human voice and instruments.

The sounds are crisp, clear and unique when compared to typical guitar pedals, etc., since this is an actual digital reproduction of the original rack mount unit. It even has turnable knobs for real-life tweaking. No particular cons and it works with my Windows 7, 64-bit computer (running Cakewalk's Sonar X3 DAW).
