Furman has unveiled its new F1000-UPS rack-mount uninterruptible power supply/power conditioner, designed to provide battery backup, power protection, voltage regulation, and line noise filtration for A/V equipment.

The F1000-UPS provides a 12-A capacity with 1000-VA battery backup to prevent data loss and allow orderly shutdown of connected equipment in the event of a power outage. The first UPS solution to feature Furman’s SMP surge/spike protection circuit, Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS), and Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT), the F1000-UPS provides protection, filtration, and backup with several features engineered specifically for the needs of A/V systems. The F1000-UPS is designed for installed sound systems, DAW workstations, and any electronics that risk data corruption or equipment damage in the event of power loss.

The F1000-UPS is programmable via RS-232, USB, or LCD front panel interface. The front panel interface also displays valuable system and diagnostic information such as battery time remaining based on current load and voltage input/output. Critical Load Management allows the user to prioritize allocation of battery power to connected equipment, and a programmable IR blaster is designed to provide safe shutdown of remotely located equipment, such as video projectors whose bulbs might otherwise be compromised in the event of a blackout.

The chassis includes removable rack ears and may be installed in a system rack (2RU height) or on a flat surface. A latching, removable front panel allows the hot-swappable batteries to be replaced without turning the unit off, removing the unit from the rack, or dismantling any connected equipment.

Pricing & Availability
The F1000-UPS will begin shipping in February 2009, with a suggested retail price of $729.95.
