«  an interesting alternative with CCRMA »

Published on 11/30/14 at 05:02
A priori, if we want to install only FEDORA, do not worry, we follow the menu and everything is moving. In my case, I want to multiboot to test various systems, keep my windows7 or 8 and enjoy the best of both worlds. So, the specific parameters are more difficult to implement side formatting and partitions in the disk. Can be tested with a live CD or download the DVD to install everything. I rather regret that the DVD is not live yet.
No major incompatibilities, but the updates were a little slow in version 14, here we are at 20, and between the two I planted because the version 14 was no longer sustainable and the SHIFT n ' not result. In fact we must ensure track versions, or disconnect updates if you want peace and a computer that rolls.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Sony VAIO laptop, 4 GB, medium perfs.
Working properly, a little longer to start than others ubuntus but less than Windows XP present on the same computer.
Stability: apart from the concern of frequent updates, no other.
I added the packages and configuration CCRMA dedicated to music: there are the usual music software on Linux, plus some others not present as standard on Ubuntu or tango, a low-latency kernel configured and no problems equipment.
I've left running for days on returning from time to time and do not worry, it awakens and it works on, no crash.

OVERALL OPINION

It has been 3 years since I use it, I tried and I always try different systems because I like it.
I like, as on others, the side dedicated to music with CCRMA packages, just under the feeling of always being in beta testing for Red Hat, although in fact it did not crash, but the stroke versions succeed a little fast for my taste.
Price / no competition for free!
With experience, this choice I would if I had a dedicated computer, but not too much because multidémarrage cohabitation seems not his thing.
