Nice pocket amp! (Orange - Micro Crush)

By iamqman, 27/04/2011
If you are bored at work and need to get some cooling down time with a guitar and amp in hand but limited in space and noise, then this is a nice amp for you. This is a great little practice pocket amp for those who are in need of some jam time and need to be quiet or on a tight budget.

The tone from something this small is quite amazing! It actually replicates a very close tone to a real tube Orange amp. It is obvious that the tone will be different but the character of that famous orange British tone is all there in a small package.

It doesn't matter what guitar you are playing with this amp. You are intending to quietly jam away in piece. So grab what ever guitar is your favorite and jam along with a pair of headphones. The amp will not take away from your guitar's natural tone.

Another great feature I love about this amp is that it has a tuner built right in. So all you really need to carry with you is your guitar and or headphones and a cable. This makes jamming in your home or office a lot more convenient.

At new these amps come in at around $60, which is a fantastic price for something this basic and portable. It carries a strong tone for those worried about how good it can sound. I highly recommend this amp for the silent player at home or office.

Nice amp for the price! (Orange - CR20LDX)

These are full of tone and simple features. Orange in my opinion has really done an exceptional job at producing some of the best if not the best small solid state amps on the market.

This has has a natural tone that is very close to the tones you hear from other Orange amps that have tubes. The tone is full and though still thin as all solid states are, it still is able to sound great enough to record with and practice with a band.

At 20 watts this little amp is able to produce some high volume riffing. The tone is remarkable for being a solid state amp. You can get some meaty tone or even some sparkly clean tones with easy.

I like Orange amps with a nice Gibson Les Paul. They have a nice chewy tone that is complimented well with a sweet mahogany guitar with humbucker pickups. It will sound fantastic with a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster too, but I find they work best with a good solid guitar. Since it is solid state the single coils can get very thin and the tone is less desirable.

At new these amps come in at around $160, which is a steal of a price. You can get a whole lot anymore for less than $200. This amp is a stellar amp for practicing at home or in your office. It has the headphone jack to you can jam along quietly without disturbing anyone around you.

I would recommend this to anyone needing a good practice amp and doesn't want to break the bank to buy one. You really only need a guitar and a cable since it has a built in tuner. You can take this easily on the go.

Nice little practice amp! (Orange - CR20LDX)

Orange! The original loud guitar huge amp company from the 70s is back in full force now, with a much larger array of products. This Crush PiX amp is a neat little 20 watt powerhouse. It is very easy to plug in and get a good sound from it, and it is a lot louder than the 20 solid state watts would suggest! I love how amp companies now are offering inputs for auxillary devices like MP3 players and iPods, and this Orange is no exception. It's great to be able to plug in a playlist and jam with your favorite artists, all in one box!

This amp rages! It gets a very nice modern hi-gain sound for the size - it is full of saturation, yet still clear. The clean is decent - nothing to write home about, but still good. And the effects aren't bad! The reverb and delay are especially good for something like this. I'm not a big fan of chorus or tremolo in general, unless they are just super high-quality, which these aren't. But it's enough variety of sounds to keep the average kid busy playing around with the knobs, which keeps the guitar in their hands! That's a good thing!

Overall, this is a good choice in a cool practice amp. This gets louder than comparable models from Line 6 or Fender, and it has a much nicer look. However, that look does come with a price premium - some people might think it is worth it. It certainly is a great look, and I love that they offer it in both orange and black models now. This amp is not that much more expensive than its closest competitors, and it offers a great tone and must-have features, so it's worth checking out. Recommended.

Orange CR6S Stereo Micro Crush (Orange - CR6S Stereo Micro Crush)

By MGR/Billy, 20/05/2011
Hey this is a review for the new CR6S Stereo Micro Crush Pix by Orange amplifiers. It is a lean, mean, not green, but orange rather, fighting machine.

I write a guitar blog and was offered the amp by Orange to check out. Have someone mail you an amp to crank up for a few days? Certainly! Brand new these are $89.

It's compact. It is 6 watts of power into 2 4 inch speakers. It has a built in tuner, strap buttons on the side and an aux input with adjustable volume knob to allow you to rock out to your favorite tunes. It also has a headphone jack and a line out.

Since it is a tiny, tiny amp the box or speakers really cannot product a ton of power. The amp really shines as a solo go anywhere practice amp or it is also a ton of fun to mic up.

There is a power supply available but of course that is sold separately. That is sort of a bummer.

The amp is covered in the classic orange tolex and tan basket weave grill cloth that Orange amplifiers are known for. It's lightweight, probably no more than 4 pounds. It can be powered by 2 nine volt batteries or a separate 18 volt power supply.

Bottom line is this amp if fun. Don't expect to rip down walls, but it makes a great practice tool.
