This is a pedal crunch and distortion with knobs for two independent channels.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is simple. You can spend the crunch distortion mode by clicking on the pedal or switch between normal sound to crunch or distortion. The operation is rather well thought out and solid pedal.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are real for a pedal of this price range. I find the crunch more "pretty" as the lead, but this is of course a matter of taste.

OVERALL OPINION

I had not tried other stuff before buying this pedal is especially having two effects in one that made me buy this model.

UTILIZATION

The switch is used to switch the bypass position to lead OR crunch, crunch or lead position is simple and well thought out and makes it very versatile pedal. Each mode has its parameters volume, tone and gain adjustable independently.

SOUND QUALITY

This is a great overdrive at Boss, may be the most successful because it allows a lot of different sounds, the overall sound is really good and responds very well to the guitar volume. The overdrive is very plain, it is all the more regrettable as it is called "SD-2" and the SD-1 offers a very good overdrive.

It's still usable but nothing folichon well.

The distortion is a bit more successful, this is a kind of MD-2 (Mega Distortion) with a more soft sound a little less loaded with bass and gain more common, but not bad either.

OVERALL OPINION

This SD-2 is somewhat reminiscent of the Jeckyll & Hyde visual sound which also offers in the same OD and distortion pedal, but two different SD-2 does not accumulate OD and distortion, also if Jeckyll has a good overdrive and very any distortion there is a reverse since a distortion clearly above the overdrive.

The interest of this pedal lies in its versatility and its price (in secondhand 50 € is a pretty good deal), but the versatility at a cost that is an OD back, we are also faced with the impossibility scroll through all the modes (bypass - OD - Disto) foot which reduces the interest of concept "all in one".

I do not notice because it is classic, jack in / out, a remote, battery or transformer for the power supply.

I use it for a few months, but I was immediately convinced.
After reading numbers opinion, almost all positive, I bought used (as almost all my gear) in very good condition and very cheap.
I played on a Screamer 50 and a Fender RockPro 100; amps with distortion of course, but I also like to add a different distortion, the SD2 is completely work.
A very good investment, I'm not ready to part away from it.

SOUND QUALITY

With regard to the crunch, I rather like. Boss was the grain that displeases many, this famous sound of bees I find this pedal not so embarrassing. It seems less present than on other overdrive pedals brand. We can use this channel to simply boost the signal of the instrument but also to reach a saturation level fairly consistent, and get her really dirty. For having other pedals in the same "vein" (a term taken with quotes huh), I do not mean to bump into mediums as we can meet on the TS-like type BB Preamp (I compared to her because I possess, but clearly was not at all the same grain). Personally, I love it, but it's very subjective.
For the saturation channel, what about if it can really send the wood and the sound is very accurate. To my mind, but I have a very limited cultural distortion pedals, you can easily reach the metal sounds of the 80s, it's pretty trippy if you like it.

OVERALL OPINION

I love this pedal! I bought it by accident without really having tested or listened to, because I was looking for a two channel pedal Boss format for reasons of space on my pedalboard, and this is at least the only one I've found . It is one of the few pedals I already know that I can not separate myself because it covers a very wide range of sounds. For me, the price / quality ratio is very good, since it is found on the secondhand market at around 60 euros.

The Boss SD-2 Dual OverDrive is a two channel overdrive pedal for electric guitar. It actually has two different circuits for each of the channels, so it's really like having two pedals in one. The pedal is an analog one that has 1/4" inputs for input and output as well as for a remote if you wanted to be able to toggle between modes via foot. Like all Boss pedals of this size, you can power it with either a nine volt battery or power supply and it isn't rack mountable.

UTILIZATION

The make up of the Boss SD-2 Dual OverDrive is a bit more in depth when compared to some of the other Boss pedals out there, but still it's not hard to understand. The only real difference is that you have both a 'lead' and 'crunch' mode to take into account, and each parameters is double tiered as to account for separate controls for each of the two channels. The first three knobs control level, tone, and drive separately for each channel and the last is so you can actually choose between the two of them. This is still a basic configuration for an overdrive pedal and a manual shouldn't be needed since none of the controls are out of the ordinary.

SOUND QUALITY

The overall sound of the Boss SD-2 Dual OverDrive is really nice as it's one of my favorite Boss made overdrives or distortions. I would say that in general I like that lead mode better as I think it's awesome for getting fat and juicy lead sounds. The crunch mode, which in my expeirence is best suited for rhythm parts, is cool but it doesn't have quite the same oomph as the lead does. The lead channel is pretty cool for rhythm parts, but definitely best for lead licks. I guess I just prefer more of a tube overdrive sound for my rhythm parts, but this mode on the SD-2 is still pretty good and still it's great to have it as an extra channel.

OVERALL OPINION

The Boss SD-2 Dual OverDrive is probably the best Boss distortion pedal out there, or at least in my experience it's up there. It's a nice a thick sounding pedal and can definitely add something to your sound in a variety of situations. I don't believe that they are still making the pedal, but it's probably easily found on the used market - for how much I do not know. I'd check it out for sure if you're into the idea of having two overdrive sounds in one, which you definitely should be!

I've had ten ans.C is true that I do not use any more, because the sound is quite aggressive and for now I prfre "softness" of the Boss SD-1.Cependant I rutiliserai composed for one day in need of a new sound.

Well ... I went to this weekend in a flea market instruments and bought a SERIES of overdrive pedals: Maxon 808, dady Danelectro, Marshall Guv'nor, Nobels overdrive + and a Boss SD-2 .

SOUND QUALITY

In my comparison, it stands out as OverDrive:

- I use the channel 1 (Crunch) to swell the clear sound of my amp. Your exact is excellent, the bass are Submitted, many prsence, the sound is magnificent. I push the gain too much (between 1 / 4 and 1 / 2). Frankly, in the same register, I like it as much as the Maxon (pushing gives everything else).
- Channel 2 is amazing! Trs big sound, prcis, incisive size to play rock seventies! Tests with my strat's way but the bridge pickup of my tlcaster is huge! If you push the big lead it insured!

It is distinguished by its versatility of other deficits overdrive. I class 2 behind the Maxon, the Nobels nearby.

Live testing on a table (Mackie) in stud is just as good as the others (except the Nobels!) Have dcroches.

Otherwise this is the chain I cre: I go in my tl Boss, in a crunch but just to reinforce its presence in light of my amp - it is still engages and suddenly I can also use channel 2 for a big distortion compresses well and fawn Paisse seventies rock - I go too the drive about half. OVERALL OPINION

Trs's good stuff, probably the best overdrive pedals at Boss.
The versatile 2-channel amplifier equipped with a good clean sound to create opportunities.
A little breath of qqs dpart Larcen qq both - control everything - but any good at all.
I would just add that each has an identity particulire pedals and it sounds different depending trs guitar. For example my tl is nickel with the overdrive while my average remaining strata. We must also find the right combination between guitar and microphone pedals.
If I have to keep three, it will be the Maxon, the Boss and the Nobels!
