Echo Indigo DJ

I wanted a small card with 4 mono outs to accompany my Machinedrum, my 950 and my vx90.
I did not need MIDI, I have a midiman, I just wanted the quality of its ultra-compact in pcmcia.

I put on my Dell laptop c600 pIII @ 1GHz - 40GB - 512MB. Win2000.

USE

Install in 2 minutes flat.
Install the drivers, I Plugge map and it's good it will run.
Easy Config to do, the look of the Windows 3.1 interface is super nice but it is simple and clear.
I did not check the pdfs I not even open the cd, I telecharg direct drivers on the site.

IMPLEMENTATION

Drivers without any problems.
A priori monitoring looks not bad, I already had echo cards I've ever had to complain or to call them. I use live, qques vst, audio. the rest of the config noon. I susi 11ms, it works without worries, I just tested one of my session with less (6ms) it works for that matter. In short latency than good, especially having the machines I have no audio sessions or vst very important.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I am very happy it makes me 4 mono outs to live with a minimum footprint, I do not even deplugge the laptop for transport, ds the cover of the laptop's enough. The quality is really very good, very accurate with his really sweet potato. a cot bcanes my sound is not taken into default.
In short, as the 8/10 10/10 does not exist! > A cheaper hair c'tait perfect.

edit: after a few months of use, no worries, I'm happy, stable, convenient, quality sound to the appointment. With hindsight and different trials, I must say that the momentum is not as pupil as other echo cards is not as punchy as a layla example. it is not as uplifting new either, it's not the same category, and that's a good range ds this product!

How often are updated?
I know, but there are drivers for Seven 64 which is really good because it's been a while since the map is no longer marketed. Apparently, Echo continues to monitor seriously.

What software do you use most often? What you get lag? How many tracks do you manage to record / play simultaneously? ...
Cross DJ essentially. No recording with this card. Latency set to 15 ms is more than enough for me. Not tried lower but with IO Echo and Sonar, I went down below 10 ms without problems.

The installation is done it without problem? Have you encountered any incompatibilities? The general configuration is easy? The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
I had nothing to do since I had previously installed an IO Echo. The DJ was recognized and roll my chicken.
Memory, installation super simple. The use is equally important.

OVERALL OPINION

How long you use it?
Few months. Previously, I had an IO Echo, the same, but with only one exit and one entrance. Used for years.

What is so special that you love the most, least?
Plus, this is first it sounds great.
Then his character very compact: only a little bit more than the computer. This is valuable when to mix in places where there is no room. Having an internal card recess also having a hell of a thread over and over.

Minimum, consideration of compactness is that the outputs are a min-TRS. Obviously I would prefer to jack outputs, or even XLR, but it would not!

Did you tried many other models before buying it? How would you rate the quality / price? With experience, you do again this choice? ..
I tested a bunch of sound cards (see my articles for AF). As I have a laptop with PCMCIA, I remain faithful to it for mobile use (although in severe need, I take my RME Multiface).
Given that the next laptop will probably not PCMCIA, it is likely that I will replace the version PCExpress.

Two outputs for indpendantes scene it's just that we needed.

Possibility to mix 8 virtual tracks on each of two outputs

Output for the samples and an outlet for the click of Mixer cooledit pro 2

My choice for this little card in a PCMCIA format t motivated by the need to make my config it anywhere (I did not want to have to unplug my motu and out of the rack every time I make outside the home).
It is connected to a Sony Vaio Laptop grt 915m (P4/2.8ghz)

UTILIZATION

-Installation trouble-free, just install the drivers well before putting the card into the slot.
The control-panel is ugly trs (style windows 3.1), an effort could be made this ct because it's really the limit ...
Manuel provided in PDF (in English only ...) on the CD.

No problem of conflict with my other card installed on the laptop.

GETTING STARTED

-No problem of stability. Echo says that the drivers are given rgulirement day on their site.
I use Ableton Live and virtual synths DIFFERENT.
"I trs satisfactory latency (11ms on Live bits/48khz 24).
-For now, I'm running on Live with 15 tracks and a dozen vst ...

OVERALL OPINION

I've had little time, so this is a first notice hot.
the sound is prcis (especially mdium / high) and trs enjoyable (suprieur that can dlivrer my Delta 44 for example).

J'apprcie encombrememnt the minimum REPRESENTATIVES indigo once be inserted in the slot, it is forgotten completely.
The report may seem a bit qualitprix dcevant (no MIDI, no entries ..) but is compensated by the size and quality of sound (I emphasize this because it is vraimment strength).

I would do without this choice problem.
