Brazilian company Musical Operating Devices developed “Do What You Want” digital effect pedalboards.

The principle of the MOD pedalboards is the use of effects (LV2 plug-ins) that can be developed by users and that can be downloaded to your computer, tablet or smartphone and freely put together in effect chains. These chains can then be saved and sent to the pedalboard with bluetooth, which allows for freely setup your own pedalboard and change preset on the fly according to your needs.

A 15-second sampler is also included so that you can record and share your settings to the social networks. This free configuration allows the use of MOD with a guitar, a bass, a keyboard…

The MOD pedalboards are based on a computer with Intel CPU and use the Linux OS.

 

The first model designed by MOD is the Quadra, a model featuring 4 footswitches, 4 buttons and 4 displays, which settings can be freely controlled. This pedalboard uses 2GB of RAM and allows for storing presets on an 8GB drive. It also offers two inputs (TRS/XLR combo and line/instrument TRS) with gain control, 2 TRS outputs with gain, a headphone output, a MIDI DIN input, a USB port and a true bypass.

This model is (currently?) not available but a 2-footswitch version called MOD Duo, will soon be available via a Kickstarter crownfunding campaign which should start later this year.

 

MOD also offers an expression pedal which allows for controlling any parameter of the pedalboard (volume, pan, delay time, distortion…) and the manufacturer adds that he is planning to allow for the change of these settings via any sensor (light, humidity, temperature, pressure…) in the future.
