BeyondR's review (Pioneer - HDJ-2000)

By BeyondR, 09/01/2013
Pioneer HDJ-2000 are pro headphones used my many Dj's that combine a high quality and a well thought design.
Mainly, these headphones are used only my professionals , but don't you worry , it's a great product that's easy to use and is quality helpful in your mixes or even in your compositions.

What I like most about these headphones is the material that cover the ears, it has a very very soft material that is extremely pleasant and creates a comfort feel whenever you use them.
Another social detail that I like about these headphones is the snug fit , it's so well designed so even if you're using them when you have a full show , you will still get comfortable regarding the time that has passed and you still have them covering your ears.

Another detail that is worth mention when comparing these headphones with others, is the durability and stability offered by them.
These headphones can take some pressure and still remain intact which is very person for a intense user of his hardware like me.

I must mention the fact that they are extremely compact so you can carry them anywhere which is such a benefit. They fold into a compact configuration.

Another extremely important factor that make these headphones even more pro is the mono/stereo switcher which us , djs , composers and mixers need so much.

My opinion about the value of price is remarkable , this product costs around 350 $ but it provided great features and the whole package is assured.

Precision and quality is great, I couldn't complain neither about the design or the quality of sound.

Knowing what I know, I would buy these headphones if I would want something pro, that is comfortable , durable and its worth the money.

Nice look, but sloppy mids (Pioneer - HDJ-1500)

By JimboSpins, 25/02/2013
The Pioneer DJ HDJ 1500 headphones are a pair of closed back headphones that I used for my DJ sets. I have used it in a handful of sets now and I am pretty happy with it. They are not the best pair of headphones that I have used but they are far from the worse. They have large diameter speaker units and soft ear cups. They come with a carrying pouch and fold down for transportation and storage.
The design of these headphones I nothing different, but they do look very clean and modern. I get a lot of complements when I use the HDJ 1500’s no matter where I go. I love the way they feel on my head, they are very comfortable and the ear pads are very soft.
The sound is ok in my opinion. The highs are decent, but the mids are subpar to me and I feel like they really make the music sound muddy. It is easy to over look the fact that the mids are sloppy because the bass hits so hard and really when you are a DJ, the bass in your headphones is very important so you can get your music and timing lined up. But when I really focus on the quality of the sound the mids really throw me off and I was very disappointed with them. I have not heard many DJ headphones that have sloppy mids, sometimes it’s the highs or the lows don’t hit hard enough but never the mids being too sloppy.
At this price (180.00) I do not recommend these headphones because some of the Shure headphones have a similar sound to these but cost about 50 bucks less. They main thing I I think I was paying for with these headphones is the style of them. They do look amazing; they are very clean and bright. But to me the look does not matter as much as the sound does.

Great for DJ'ing and Listening (Pioneer - HDJ-500)

By JimboSpins, 26/02/2013
The Pioneer DJ HDJ 500 K headphonesar a pair of closed back DJ headphones that have a 40 mm magnet driver and removable cable. These headphones are very affordable and that is probably the only reason I chose to give them a shot. Costing only 100 dollars, I was looking for a pair of headphones that would be great for DJ use and general listening use that I could take on the road with me and not have to worry about damaging my main pair of headphones. The HDJ 500 K is very comfortable around my head even after wearing them for long periods of time. The ear cups are very soft and do not irritate my ears.
The sound of HDJ 500 K are very good for this price. The highs and mids are clean and crisp and the low end has a nice thump to it making it easy to DJ with because I can match up tempos and beats easily. The only thing about these headphones that I feel could cause an issue is the build of them not being as durable as I like my headphones to be but at this price I didn’t expect to get something that would be able to withstand the tough life on the road. I have been using these headphones for a while now and I am even thinking of getting a second pair just to leave at home.
I have used many other Pioneer headphones and some of them are really good and some not so good. These are very good for the price I just don’t think they are that durable and heavy duty. I do recommend getting these though and they could be a great pair of headphones if you are looking for your first pair of DJ headphones. The HDJ headphones from Pioneer are very good, they make a few ones that have the same “Rare Earth” Magnet Driver in them.
