It sounds pretty dull on monitoring speakers. The sound doesn't cut through.
The lows are scanty.
It's obvious, you'd say, since monitoring speakers have a flat response.

Nevertheless, you'd think manufacturers do their modelings with this type of speakers in acoustically treated studios.
Unless it's my room, which isn't treated (although I have a room-correction system).
It's beyond me.

It sounds better on my AKG studio headphones (which are a bit flattering).

I still haven't tested it with my amp's return (I'm on it).

I tested it one day.

This is not really a detailed product but rather a general consensus opinion.

it has been many times that I see passing rather negative view of Guitar Rig 5 while personally I use it on almost all of my guitar tracks and I can get really good results (in my opinion it is always subjective ). All these reviews makes me feel disappointed that users were unable to use it effectively. So I decided to emit some recommendations to make the most of this plug interesting.

1. noise or other painful buzz.

Depending on the guitar (single coil pickup especially) may have noise. It is not related to guitar rig. This is the same problem with all plug guitars. This is mainly the guitar itself. I recommend trying the following:
- Move away from computer screens see éteindres during shooting,
- Turn with the guitar until you find an angle or there are more parasites,
- Set the input of the instrument proper way level
- Finally, consider using the noise gate very well.

2 The sound quality of the final

Always think that these plug simulate several elements chain: Effects, a preamp, a cabinet and a microphone with his placement. The sound you hear in the end is compared not with what comes out of a classical guitar amp but with that comes a recorder at the end of a recording session in the cabin.
For my part, given the acoustics of my home studio, I get better results with guitar rig when I record the guitar to amp output (I have yet a good amp and good microphones ).

For a good overall sound, it takes much work input levels of the guitar's sound card and input levels and output plugin. Depending on the settings can have get very good sounds like very bad. this is particularly evident for distos. These levels also vary often depending guitars themselves. So watching before each sound.
With a good setup, you can get a lot of headroom and even tubesque heat (yes).

We can also mix Harware and Software. It happens often enough to use a real effect and make it fit into the amp simulated guitar rig and it works fine pedal.

I invite users to look at how are made the factory presets and work slowly changing one then two settings to see the changes in the sound (or type of microphone placement for example).

3 Hidden effect settings

We do not think it necessarily but clicking on the triangle at the bottom right of the effects in the rack panel is opened with very substantial additional settings. We discover, for example, sync functions for some time to expand or stereo sound.

4. weaknesses yet?

Although with guitar rig 5 this point has been largely improved, one can find that on some clear sound simulation software is still lagging behind compared to real amps. This is probably true but the quality of the guitar pickups plays an important role in this type of sound even with a plugin.

OVERALL OPINION

It was imperative to raise the rating of this product.

Guitar Rig works without any compatibility issues on Windows Xp , 7 , Vista or MAC.

The manual is analytical , a lot of details and insides shared , very easy to understand, great manual.

The general setup is simple , nothing really fancy , direct setup with no effort.

The typical functions are easy to access either while using the preset manager , or just using your mouse over the plugin.

The software works perfectly in its configuration , very smooth response whilr using it.

The software is also very stable , no crashes occurred while using it over a bunch of effects and different presets , no bugs , nothing.

I'm getting awesome results in creating some powerful riffs , typical found in rock and pop , this is a top quality guitar amp.

OVERALL OPINION

I like those 14 guitar amps , the 48 amazing guitar effects including distortions, flangers, choruses, tremolos, wah-wahs, pitch shifting, delays and reverbs and even a fun one , like a loop machine.

The preset browser is very fast and easy to use , you get around 250 completely new, high-quality presets for different genres including pop , rock , jazz , etc.

A master effect is also present , which I totally enjoy using , and of course the Room Control that gives room to the sound , a warm space and a slower attack.

My opinion about the value for the price is good , this amp costs around 199 $ , not much if you'll consider all the features you get on your pc.

Precision and quality of the sound is truly amazing , very rich , textured sound while using this software.

Knowing what I know , I would make the same choice because Native Instruments never disappointed me while using many of their products , indeed this is a top electronic amp.

The program works on any platform either Windows XP, Windows Seven or MAC OS , so compatibility issues isn't a real problem.

The manual included with the program is great , Native Instruments made a great book explaining the main functions and their use with the product.

The general configuration and setup is simple , I haven't had any problems with it , and it took me about 3 minutes to get it done.

The typical functions are easy to spot trough a great designed window that has a lot of presets on it.

The software works good in this configuration , everything is well settled without any type of misunderstandings.

The gear and software is very stable and works quite smooth and great.

I'm getting very good performances in emulating a nice electric or bass guitar that isn't very far away from recording a live one.

I've been using Guitar Rig from Native Instruments for about one year.

OVERALL OPINION

What I like most about it are the build in presets where you can choose from a certain style a different type of emulation directly linked to your music or your intentions.

I do like as well how big and powerful this amp is , you can get a very distinct and powerful type of sound , which is found only in some great amp out there.

The design and the low cpu resources needed to run this program is another factor which makes this product even better.

My opinion about value of price is great , this product is probably the most powerful and pro digital amp in the music world , so don't hesitate , this is the right deal if you're searching for something like that.

Precision and quality of the sound is 10/10 , without a doubt , very good program.

Knowing what I know , I would get this program right away.

I am an owner of Komplete 8 Ultimate from Native Instruments. The first product I bought from Native Instruments was Guitar Rig 3. After several software upgrades, Guitar Rig 5 is no longer just for amp sim, it is designed to be a total effects suite including reverbs, console EQs, hardware compressors, etc. If you don't own K8U, then Guitar Rig can be expanded by purchasing more products from NI.
The software can be downloaded directly from the NI website and is authorized using the NI Service Center application.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

If you are interested in Guitar Rig for its amp simulation, there are some great things about it compared with other options (Pod Farm, Amplitube, TH2, Eleven, etc). I really like the new cabinets in GR5, which are a huge improvement from GR4. The amp selection is decent, but I find I like some of the quintessential amp models in other software better (JCM800, Plexi, Twin, Bassman). I think the AC30 model is really good in GR5 compared to other software. I can't compare to owning the real amp, but I like it better than most other amp sim models I have heard. The Ultrasonic amp is unique to GR5 and is great for a full range of guitar tones - from clean to heavy, and most importantly in the slightly overdriven range.
The big advantage of GR5 over other amp sim software is the quality of post-processing effects. NI and Softube paired up to model some great compressors, 1176, LA-2A, DBX-160. There are also models of a bunch of SSL stuff including EQs, and compressors. Nothing comparable to this really exists in software like Amplitube.
Guitar Rig 5 also has extremely flexible routing compared to other software. This opens up the possibility for some really unusual and creative processing.

OVERALL OPINION

Analog modeling has come a long way. With each version of Guitar Rig, Native Instruments has taken one step closer to getting a computer to sound like analog hardware. Although modeling may not sound exactly like the real thing, software also has some inherent advantages over hardware. With GR5, your processing options are mostly limited by how fast your computer can run, and not whether you can afford a JCM800, and a Plexi, and a 1176, and a SSL mix-bus compressor, and a hundred effects pedals. Software opens up a whole new world for the modern musician to be creative. GR5 is more than just amp simulation, it is a total effects suite. Another good thing is that NI has recently started releasing some of the effects from GR5 as individual plug-ins. For a while I neglected opening up GR5 if I wanted a LA-2A compressor, because I could just open up Waves CLA-2A. Now that I have the NI/Softube model as an individual plug-in, I was open it instead of the Waves plug-in because it has nice features like parallel compression built right in.

No soucis.Logiciel purchased by download. Installation on several PCs, quick, clear, because I had the habit of downloading system because I also have Native Guitar Rig 4.

Notebook PC 7. Dual core, 4 gigs of ram, 500 Gb HDD. Dell Precision
No worries, the PC is running. I have disabled all of that is useless for music: Modem, Wi-Fi, Network, internal sound card, etc.., The bios and antivirus systems, firewall, automatic updates.
I added a cooler to have no unwanted crackling when recording (Sonar Sub)
I use the pedal / guitar rig 3 sound card to drive this. Super easy configuration at the first connection and the opening of standalone software. We can say that GR 5 is a little more demanding than GR4, especially in the new amps / cabs (Evh, Satriani) but works with the laptop.
Drivers are recognized by three PC and the program audio settings to check the latency, the definition audio, short audio settings.
2 PCs. No worries with the most recent in 2009 under Vista (2 GB ram), but the XP PC is experiencing some problems with Guitar Rig 5 (for normal PC 2002, 512 MB of RAM), a brief relic. But it runs fairly well under Grig 4.

OVERALL OPINION

Maintenand 3 months and I can say it is really superior to Guitar Rig 4 Pro, fortunately. Because the software now has big sounds, what it lacked in really comparing Overloud Revalver.
Note, unlike some other software, it is found that the sound of his guitar.
But as I am still not satisfied, there are still things to do on the side of big fat sound: at least I think so.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

On core 2 duo E7400 (o / ca 3.16GHz) and 8Gb ram, no worries, the process turns aentre 10 and 30% in high definition.

Level latency, used on a Fast-track (MKI is around 10 ms, the Roland UA25-EX is turned between 5 and 9 ms. So very correct.

Point of view its general level, it's clean on hifi system like the monitor was a "multi purpose" but nothing really transcendent.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this software since version 1 and version I have owned all in the hope of an improvement. The deception.

to get into the details:

Whether for use as live or VST plug-in:

Simulation-cab very successful and much improved since version 1. I will say is the big success of this program.

Delay and reverb-clean and efficient.

Audio-player practice with the detune function and slowed, it is a handy tool to practice playing on the audio tracks.

Disto-not bad but not great.



For the other end I pass my turn, I use very little and even if I find them quite succeed, I use with too little to have a full review.


Now the least (just as well as direct plug-ins):

The software-as a whole is severely lacking in dynamics, with some adjustable ultra basic (type amp + cab only) you do not feel even more accurately the attacks.

-The sound of bases (preset) its overall bad, except two or three that stand out, the mountain effect that each preset Contains finally turned the sound big mush.

-The biggest default: The amp heads! a disaster, no change since version 2, settings are still inefficient compared to the amp models on which these models are based. With two other effects in addition to and turn the EQ is not altogether a most anything, so for me as bit of a scratch> lamp preamp> power amp lamp> baffle and nothing more, this software is still disappointing in this respect view.

The sounds are supposedly modeled light years of the original models, the settings do not help.

In conclusion I would say that is nothing worse than a full multi purpose € 200 unless you want to use some of distortion pedals or external simulation of HP (vst). hence the 4 / 10.

At the same gender, standard amp simulation, Revalver is doing three times better, too bad they do not do that peavey amp on it.

Plus: a lot of simulation diffrent, many effects, the control room, the clear and intuitive interface.
Minimum: the sounds, it's always the same, by large distos (which I find faster drafts trs) most of the effects not make normment.
The crunch is not good trs, trs dry, no heat, no sustain, to clean it worse is too dry, not rounded, slim, there's no photo, we see direct that the simulation ...
Effects (notably flanger and wha) normment me of the ct numrique is far too feel my taste, as a result I almost never uses the internal effects ...

I tried AmpliTube, which did not convince me either ...

For someone who can not afford to buy an amp or is in an apartment, it's okay for work or play, possibly to record amateurs (quoique. ..) but otherwise spend your way.

I had also the three that the era INTERESTED me but looking back, I would do not have that choice, I have the possibility to play on a real amp and recording, I bought it for curiosities, but I do not use that trs occasionally (at night or when I do not have my amp available ...).

Let me start by saying I have tried literally every guitar amp sim out there. I have a lot of tube amps and being a studio engineer I really wish I could sell some of them. So my search for the perfect amp sim has gone on for a while. I have been using Guitar Rig since version 3 and with every version I have hoped that it would get better. So far it's definitely been in the good but not great camp.

Install is quick. Sometimes it can have issues with audio compatibility and crashing. All I can say about that is...it happens. It's not a deal breaker or anything. But NI needs to work on this particular program's stability. It's only gotten worse over the years unfortunately. GR5 crashed ALL the time.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I use it with a variety of instrument preamps going through firewire. Usually I bring it up in Cubase. It doesn't get used very often because frankly I don't think it sounds quite good enough for my tracks. Well sometimes it does, but rarely. It performs with a reasonably low amount of hiccups. My CPU runs it easily.

OVERALL OPINION

Here's the deal with GR5. It gets a few things right. The interface is by far my favorite of any soft based amp sim. Everything is very interactive and visual. The audio and control layout is made up so that you can navigate everything very quickly and get things done a lot quicker than most other amp sims where a lot of simple tasks end up taking a while. Guitar rig has always done a good job of making you feel like all the gear was right in front of you. So that's great.

The sound quality is another story. The effects are generally pretty good. Some of the more analog ones fall a bit short but the overdrives/reverbs/mods effects are mostly spot on. I would know because I have used most of the "real life" gear. Most of the effects are at least usable and some of them get even higher marks. Only a handful are just utterly bad. But there's so many...it's a non issue.

The cab sims are great too. They tend to be pretty accurate most of the time. Mic placement options are good. Just like in real life, you have to play with placement and stuff. So it's fair.

Now the amps...this is where Guitar Rig has fallen short for me. SOME of them are pretty spot on. The AC30, Fenders, and the rectifier are pretty darn close. The rest are garbage. The Uberschall sounds nothing like my uberschall. The marshalls are a gritty mess. They sound flubby and harsh all at the same time. The Orange and Hiwatt sims sound vaguely like their counterparts but are mostly just bad. It's very difficult to get good sounds out of any of them and I have spent 30 minutes on amp settings just fighting to get a tone that isn't awful.

If only the amps were good, this would be a pretty solid soft sim. Unfortunately the most important element at work is a miss. So I can't give a good rating. To be fair, almost all the soft synths I've tried have been pretty bad. The only good amp sim I've played is the axe-fx which of course isn't software. Sorry guys. Maybe next time.
