Ueberschall has released Metal 2, an Elastik-based pack of heavy rock-oriented samples that promises "unforgiving, punishing riffs & tracks".
Forget the stereotypes: the metal genre doesn’t have to be all about distorted guitars, rumbling basses, kingsize drum kits and husky vocalists – it can also be all about samples. It’s been a while Ueberschall has understood that, and their new Metal 2 library builds on the pedigree of the original Metal library and other past titles such as Nu Metal, Thrash Metal and Shred Guitar.
Metal 2 features 10 brand new, fully featured, song construction kits with heavy down-tuned 7-string guitars, 5-string bass and endless drum kits. Each of the 10 constructions kits features multiple musical sections with full intros, outros and parts suitable for verse, chorus, bridge, etc., making arranging and song construction easy. Each song section features guitars, bass and drums, with synth bass and sound effects loops also included. A pre-mixed stereo drum loop is provided but, in addition, individual drum loops – kick, snare top, snare bottom, hi-hat, cymbals, overheads and room – are also provided, dry and without any processing so as to be customized exactly how you would like to. A total of just over 3GB of sample data is provided, spread across over 900 audio loops – most of them 8 bars long.
Stylistically, Metal 2 combines elements of classic heavy metal, hard rock and contemporary metal styles to create a powerful and aggressive wall of sound.
Ueberschall‘s Elastik player and Elastik libraries are said to offer a clearly arranged structure, with all names containing speed and root note information for fast and easy navigation within a library. Time-stretching and pitch changes of loops can be performed easily and at highest quality using Zplane‘s “élastique pro” algorithm. All instrument loops in Metal 2 within a construction kit can be transposed with no effort, also all drums of a library can be exchanged and combined with each other.
The attribute-based browser is said to enable access to all available loops across all installed Elastik libraries with high speed thanks to its clear layout. Intuitive functions such as formant, resample, reverse and a multi mode filter make the Elastik player allow fast music production, while also offering free space to creatively manipulate loops.
