needs more power

Marshall MG2FXPublished on 12/01/11 at 19:11
Having just reviewed a really bad portable amp, I feel compelled to give kudos to a product that figured it out. The Marshall MG2FX is a portable guitar amp. It is powered by 6 AA batteries, or the optional AC adapter. There is one 1/4" input and a pre-amp out jack, which can be useful in some recording and stage sessions (by running the pre-amp out signal to the PA, or to a DAW via the console. There is a knob for volume only, but trust me, the tone is solid. The amp has 5 watts of power.

UTILIZATION

This is simply used for practicing for the vast majority of its users. In this case, the amp is one of the easiest ones to use that I've seen. The manual is pretty unnecessary overall. You can attach a guitar strap to it to carry it around your neck, which is really sweet if you are carrying your guitar in your hand and want a free hand. The pre-amp out jack is cool, I don't use it much but I know that some people have gotten great studio sounds with it. I think that's

SOUNDS

Don't look at my review and assume this thing sounds amazing. It doesn't. It's just that for a portable five watt amp, you can really not do better. I'm convinced to this day that there isn't a better sounding amp that you can wear around your neck. The volume knob will adjust gain to a necessary degree. I like all the sounds equally. This is a practice amp that will actually make you sound good when you practice, which is a surprising rarity once you reach a certain level of playing. There really is no control of the EQ, so asking about the frequency curve is somewhat difficult to answer. I would say that they are pretty neutral in that they don't ever favor one end of the spectrum over the other.

OVERALL OPINION

I don't really have much to say other than this is a pretty cool device. I'd say that overall, this is worth it for whoever would benefit from having a quiet amplifier that's easy to carry around. The sound is better than anything you'll find in amps this size, and even a few sizes bigger to be honest. Highly recommended.

Dimensions: 10-1/4"H x 10-3/8"W x 6-7/8"

SOUNDS

This amp is extremely easy to use. The amp has 10 voicings and within that you can probably find any Marshall tone that you are looking for. It actually has a nice AC/DC type tone as well as a more modern type tone. The distortion is very MArshall from plexi to modern Jcm800 modded amps It is very useful when dialing in the right voicing for your tone.

I like this amp with a humbucking style guitar such as a Gibson Les Paul or a SuperStrat. It like having that double coil pickup with the thick chewy distortion this amp can get. There is basically every Marshall tone in this amp. Finding it is not a hard job to do.

OVERALL OPINION

You can pick these little combo practice amps up fro right at around $139. That i a great deal for this little combo. With the range of tonal possibilities the amp can see just about any style of guitar tones that you want.

Ideal for play in without disturbing either.

UTILIZATION

The setup is relatively simple and the manual is not necessarily useful.

SOUNDS

I play an Ibanez ARC 100. Cramberries I play, via AC DC, Nirvana, Metalica.
It should be pretty good, but does not seek to reproduce the sounds of your favorite bands so if they do not play on Marshall. Indeed, unlike the Roland micro cube or VOX, it has a very distinctive Marshall sound. The amp models are available as a Marshall. I was once a big Vavelsate 65R and playing on the contour and gain found quite accurately the sounds that can offer this little Marshall.
So for me, this proposed 70eeuros Sale up to 119 euros off balance and promo little amp is only for hardcore sound marshall. If you want the typical VOX, Mesa booggie or fender this amp is not for you, head to the Roland (Vox is still too Typed VOX).
A large default at this little amp is its MP3 input. In fact, my iPhone plugged into it, the sound is bad and if you start to play guitar at the same time, it becomes downright Cradaingue.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought this amp to get back to the guitar, it was really cheap (do not look at 45 euros it therefore more at this price point, it was a mega promotion of destokage)
I have now sold as the proposed sound did not suit me.
I recommend it to all fans of Marshall, and advises others to go their way.
I tried Roland, VOX and Marshall and Yamaha. I recommend widely Roland or Yamaha which afford. VOX and Marshall for the tiny amp, too typed.

it comes close
>>> This amp delivers transistors sounds unlike Vox and Roland
but it is not exceptional either I find
sounds are better than those of the bcp micro cube sounds Marshall
da5 vox sounds are better in crunch (+ Realistic)
amp Marshall has a big win and can give feedback: good
the effects are good (especially if clean sounds, we hear a little less I think)
favorite preset: 7 for a little bluesy / rock
can not adjust the media

OVERALL OPINION

One of the best small amp for Marshall sounds
but not for metal sounds or crunch
Sound-transistors
Digital Effects
-Tap tempo for this Dlay when other brands have not been
I was expecting + + realistic and differentiated from each other but sound is still good
-This amp is really a bit too powerful for home
must play at very low volume
