Public price: $6,000 incl. VAT

If you love EMT-style plate reverbs, take a look at the new realization from Lightning Boy, but be careful, you’ll need a lot of space for it.

Called VOG, for Voices of the Gods, the reverb is a 8’ x 5’ giant weighing about 400 pounds and equipped with two pickups for a true analog stereo plate reverb. The beast ships with a dual rack for the two necessary handwired Class A tube amplifiers.

Inside VOG, you can adjust the panel in order to vary to reverb decay time from 2 to 5 seconds, manually or via an optional motorized system that is remotely controlled.

The VOG Driver Amplifier is a 15W mono amp with a passive two-band equalizer and a volume knob. It uses NOS EL84, 12AX7 and 6×4 tubes, oiled paper capacitors and audio transformers.

The second amplifier, VOG Output Amplifier, is a stereo push/pull model with separated volume controls. Its hosts pairs of NOS 6922 and NOS 6×4 vacuum tubes as well as audio transformers. You can connect it to the effect return of a mixing console or to the inputs of an A/D converter for digital mixing purposes.

The price of VOG is $6000, to which you can add $800 for the motorized control system of the panel, and $50 for a stainless steel panel, and don’t forget the shipping fees.

I used an EMT back around 1979 in the recording school I attended. They admittedly sounded really good.
This guy put his in his basement- since my studio is currently IN my basement, maybe I will have to make room for this in my bedroom.
Honey? Honey? Put that knife down!
