Would not the (excellent) descriptions Shamkara, I would add just that for me the 32 megs of RAM and the optional OP-760-01 is vital to have otherwise tended to use it.
Nothing to say, there is everything you need. Possibly missing knobs for filters, but just buy a ptite MIDI control surface if you want to develop them live (I did with my Oxygen).
UTILIZATION
Manual not very clear to me (I got it in German, like many other buyers used :-(). on the other hand, there are ways to easily get a manual or via resellers Roland worry photocopy one at a thrift shop. Some features are still a bit complex.
on the other hand, with the OP-760-01, a small TV connected to S-video and mouse, it is a treat to use for a basic user like me. So, I needed more man after two weeks while I did not know at the time that the MPC (60 and 200xl) and Kontakt! There must of course but the subtleties of the house (editing and playing drums and loops, filters) is good enough for me.
In addition, if you Recycle with MIDI then dump it altogether a breeze.
Note that the time-stretch was surprised by its quality.
SOUNDS
Rahhhhhhhhhhh!
Bon bah is clear, it sounds incredible, it's hot, it "amplifies" the sounds, super bass is present (especially compared to the VSTi). The dynamic is powerful digital filters and ... ben is nothing to say, they are used by the largest (on Daft Punk disco loops of Homework, Modjo, Fat Boy Slim, DJ Sneak ...). I made mounted filters and monstrous drums on some tracks of my album which speaks to me again.
The D / A converters have a reputation that is second to none.
Just for the filters, the sampler is worth it, especially considering the price of a sherman!
OVERALL OPINION
I have 4 years. I love the filter and the low of the sampler. Before I was more familiar with Kontakt but frankly there is no photo, though Kontakt defends itself if we know the program.
I bought it for the stage, € 750 is an excellent price / quality ratio.
Since I had all that hype hype considered vintage samplers (ASR-10, SP1200 ...). I kept only one (but I bought a DP4
In conclusion, I would say the S-760, the optional OP-760-01 and its 32 Megabytes can use in stand-alone perfect and have the potential to do everything with (Modjo produced album with all his). What few samplers that allow prices.
