Here’s a new French project that gives you the ability to take your samples with you and play them with your MIDI keyboard for less than 100 €.
SamplerBox is an open source and open hardware DIY sample player project based on Raspberry Pi OS. It gives you the ability to play samples stored on an SD card by connecting a MIDI keyboard with a latency of 11.6 ms, and hear it on speakers or headphones (a line out is included).
The designer is currently offering four « instruments » (sample sets) and you’ll find on this website a guide to create your own samples. The SamplerBox supports up to 128 voices of polyphony and velocity changes.
