i bought this guitar over at the internet (zzounds.com) i paid for $ 299.00. i own several guitars( kramer-focus 3000, jackson king v, LTD-ESP M150, Washburn maverick series), i wanted to try an ibanez guitar.

to be honest, i bought this guitar mainly because of its looks. id always like the shape of the rg's body ( not the rounded edges that you usually see on most guitars) , plus the sharktooth inlays on its fretboard, its kinda cool when you look at it.

what i dont like about like about the guitar is its poor quality when you scrutinize it ( i mean, its just an rg compared to a jem), but my point is that at least they should try to make the quality of an rg a little bit competi…

the wood is made of basswood, there is no problem with the paint job - outside. i think they should also more finish the inside of the backplate just to look more descent. the floyd rose license bridge is sturdy and stays in tune. the pickups are not that bad, the middle pickup has an obvious hum when engaged. the neck is smooth and feel a little rounder and narrower compared to jackson's. the fret wire is of bad quality, ive own the guitar for about 7 months and id noticed fretwear, i mean im not using the guitar 24/7, but by this ratei should be thinking of looking for a new neck!

don't buy this guitar if you can save for higher model of rg's. now, buy, this guitar if you want a guitar to use at home for studying and practicing purposes, i think it will rise to challenge of everyday use and abuse!

My old Kramer Focus 1000 had electronic problems causing huge noise from the pickups when using distortion and rust was slowly killing it. I knew Ibanez was a good price/quality investment and I bought my RG 270-DX used for 320$ Canadian, thanks to internet adds.

What I like most is the way my hands feel on it. It feels like I have more space and comfort. I have long and thin fingers so for me, it's a big plus. Basically, it feels like I went from a guitar for kids (Kramer Focus 1000) to something for adults! The look of it is also awesome (beside the lightning design on the fretboard) and the Floyd Rose patent tremolo doesn't seem to cause big problems so far. Although, I'm not a Floyd Ro…

The look of it is also awesome (beside the lightning design on the fretboard) and the Floyd Rose patent tremolo doesn't seem to cause big problems so far. Although, I'm not a Floyd Rose power user "a la Steve Vai" so it should be good enough for me. If you are, I would suggest something else, to hire a tech or use a few guitars in your set cause I don't know many guitars that could resist such a beating! ;)

What I don't like is the lightning design on the fretboard. I prefer having regular dots but this is very personnal. The other thing I don't like, and this is a bigger factor, the pickups! They sound a bit too heavy for my taste. I think I will change the neck pickup for a Fender or something more bluesy. The other 2 aren't so bad but it could be better too. They sound a bit flat.

Like I said before, it feels to me like I went from a guitar for kids (Focus 1000) to a guitar for adult. So far, I haven't found any problem with the body itself and the fretboard feels very comfortable.

For 320$ Canadian, I don't think I could get much better than this guitar. In the worse scenario, I'll have to pay for some adjustments and a new pickups at the neck position and I'll end up with a great looking/sounding/playable guitar for less than 500$, which could last me a few years.

I would recommand this guitar for most amateur players with a low budget and I would give it a 5/5 rating based on qulaity/price but a 3/5 in general.

I bought it from an online rock guitar shop for about 320 pounds, which is quite good.

It sounds pretty beefy through my marshall avt combo, and the lead tone through the neck humbucker is very smooth. The neck is very fast too. And ofcourse theres its looks which are understated yet very attractice (mines a silver-green finish)

The clean tones for the bridge pickup are a little too harsh for my taste, a bit...scratchy. However, the other humuckers clean tone is much smoother and milder, and way better for leads. The floyd rose tremelo system makes the guitar simply not stay in tune. Maybe its just my guitar, but every time i bend a string a lot, one or more of my strings goes way out of …

As you can imagine this is VERY annoying and can cause a great deal of embarassment when playing live!

The construction overall is very good, i've not noticed any flaws in its finish or build quality.

Overall i really like this guitar. Its great for the style of music I play (modern metal) and it can handle a variety of pleasing tones from thick chunky distortion to pleasant bluesy clean sounds. My only big gripe is with the constant need to re-tune and with the floyd rose putting the strings out of tune if you as much as tough it. However, if you disregard that its a good solid metal guitar, great for shredding and so-on, and is certainly worth the money.

I bought this guitar because I was using a Gibson Epiphone and it wasn't enough and I bought it for $378 us in Austin,Texas about a year ago.

I liked a lot the sound of the pick-ups since they are very powerful you can play higher notes with a not distorted noise, it looks really great as in a model and it is perfect for a mid guitarist.

the only problem I found in this one is that the floyd is a pain in the neck when you want to change strings besides that is really great.

perfect sound and incredible stricture of the neck, it makes easier to play.

I liked a lot this guitar since it was my second one anyway I would buy it again if it was cheaper.

I bought this guitar at Long & Mcquaide in Toronto. I was looking to upgrade from my crappy first electric guitar and had heard good things about Ibanez. I paid about $450 cdn for the guitar.

I like the guitar a lot. It feels very solid when playing, has a great wine red finish. All the components seem to be high quality, I haven't had any problems with anything yet and I've had this guitar for about 3 years. It's got 2 humbuckers and a single-coil, although i don't use the single-coil much. The neck plays great, good for rhythm or lead playing. The guitar also looks great overall.

The only thing I don't like about this guitar is the Floyd Rose licensed tremolo. I had tuning troubles with my first guitar and wanted to avoid that, so I went with the Floyd. This became a pain pretty quickly; tuning and changing strings takes a fair bit of time. I had someone put a block underneath the bridge so it wou;dn't shift. I'm getting close to trading this guitar in for something without a tremolo, most likely an Ibanez SZ.

Quality and construction are great. Never had any problems with any part of this guitar. The stock pickups are good quality and sound good distorted and clean. No complaints with the guitar itself, I'm just tired of the tremolo.

If your looking to upgrade to a mid-level guitar, this is a great choice. The RG 270-DX feels great in your hands, sounds great, and looks awesome. If the Floyd Rose is your thing I would definitely consider picking up this guitar. If not, you might want to check out one of the other RG models. Great guitar overall.

450$ used (canadian) probably kinda steep for this guitar but i needed a quick guitar

i love the thin neck, very easy to play. I also like the shape of the body. The inlays look really cool to. The floyd seems to lose tune after a few good dive booms.. Im most likely going to get it blocked so i can play with tunings.

Stock pick ups were garbage but i dont think you could really expect anything much better for the price. I swapped in a seymour dimebucker and things are good.My biggest dislike (very irratating) problem with this guitar is the jack.. it gives off a nasty buzz when i play it sitting down (say the jacks rubbing of something sort of)i had to get it re sauldered because of this…

i think its put well together except the jack

good guitar for the price. Great neck for fast playing. Crappy jack. Low end pick ups (what can you expect for the price)
    good for metal

This was a gift, and I belive it was purchased at a Daddy's Junky Music store for around $500.

When I was a relatively new player, and taking lessons this was probably the worst possible guitar in the world for me. The floating bridge makes the guitar lose tuning a lot, the excellent hardware was being neglected because I didn't really know how to use it, and so it stayed in the corner of my room for four years. Now that I am a much for experienced player, and am able to write my own music and play well, this is a fantastic guitar. It was designed for metal, but the three pickups deliver excellent tone for soloing, especially blues. Its a nice shape, and size. It's pretty light, and I have…

It was designed for metal, but the three pickups deliver excellent tone for soloing, especially blues. Its a nice shape, and size. It's pretty light, and I have had no problems with it since. It is an excellent guitar for my Death Metal band.

I am digusted with floating bridges. They are worthless pieces of crap, just get a wammy bar for pete's sake. Anyway, this bridge on the Ibanez is terribly unstable and causes the guitar to lose tuning very quickly. If you just want to rest your hand on the bridge (like with an ordinary Strat or Tele) than it cause the strings to go out of tune and change pitch. One day my guitar teacher guru told me about how the guitar can be opened up in the back. Find a piece of wood that fits the bridges size and stick it in between the bridge and the guitar. It works very well, and I have no other complaints about the RG270 DX.

It is built very solid, nothing is ever a problem. Every piece of hardware on this is excellent. This is a quality guitar.

Excellent guitar all around, and if you hate floating bridges you can fix it and enjoy the guitar.

    SOUNDS

I play a little bit of everything and the handle is indeed necessary for all.
Coupling with a peavey 5005 and a zoom, I can get good stuff with.
A good surprise is, paradoxically, with clean sounds it is doing best!

    OVERALL OPINION

I played with for 6 years and this is my 3 guitar, by far the best.
I use little vibrato because in heavy use, the guitar has a hard time keeping the same agreement and tends to block dsaccorder despite the rope.
It's a great guitar and it continues to get me a lot of fun.
Now that my game has significantly amlior I plan is to offer real mics worthy of his capabilities, or to buy another, but in a range of price leve.

Two knobs, one for volume (just ok) and one for grain (almost useless).

A breeder of micro rather well done.

Two microphones and a simple double bobinnage.

    Channel 24 frets.

Floyd bridge to reach and loosen the strings on which one gives the game after blocking the strings at the top of sleeve.

    UTILIZATION

The handle is nice no more. It's not the kind of handle that is that it seems to play like a god but a good race anyway.

Access to acute is very easy, for it no problem.

The guitar is heavy, almost too much, a concert of three / four hours and you can feel the shoulder s'enkiloser.

The settings are very simple so no worries at this level.

    SOUNDS

A good guitar for the rhythm.

The highs are too faiblairds. I recommend changing the double bobinnage (humbucker) acute (Di Marzio put a norton for example).

Very easy to sound very bold and aggressive. Much harder to have a crystal clear sound. By clean, I use a Small Clone chorus ElectroHarmonix, it's nice but I admit that the clean sound remains the weak point of this guitar sound cold and brittle, without a soul. In the limit for a few arpeggios it goes but do not abuse it. When I bought it, I was a fan of Metallica and I spent hours to take me for James Heltfeild.

So do not take if it is to make Cabrel. I played with a Marshall VS100 and a Fender 80.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had six or seven years. I find it does not age too badly. Well now I keep it out of nostalgia for my debut and I play on my SG.

I would say the main strength of this skyscraper is its value for money which makes it ideal for beginners. Compared to what can be seen in this price range, it outperforms the competition. A scraper honest promises than it can Offir.

For sound is another story. The humbucker in bridge is correct, it provides much in the bass (too much perhaps) and the mediumx. The microphone is simply a nickel for his own clean, but no real personality and, again, the humbucker handle does nothing but sound a little muffled.

    SOUNDS

I like to play everything and this guitar with the right amp settings can answer a lot of desires, though more oriented Rock and Metal.
The sounds that you get the best middles are beautiful crystalline solid harmonic, or a cold that his "slap" (two sounds that I prefer). When you spend the distortion, however, it is better to stay sober and not to seek a sound fat and crunch to avoid saturation of the microphones while for a heavier distortion and aggressive you will be served.

    OVERALL OPINION

That's my only guitar, but I have tried other guitar and a mid-range has a very good price / quality ratio.
I think about to change the pickups for DiMarzio and finally have the sound I expect, because I'm used to the violin.

I think with the experience I picked up a guitar in its class (but with other pickups).

    SOUNDS

I mainly play metal and this guitar is perfect for that.
I changed the microphone next to a bridge DiMarzio Super Distortion (high output and fat) because the original was a bit of law to my taste. Other microphones are good for a wide range of clean sounds. The double-sided handle is also nice distortion for solos.
The wood of this guitar is made less in the sound on high-end guitars. Therefore he must be sticking microphones that can do the job alone.
Once done, it sounds hell ...!

    OVERALL OPINION

    I have 4 years.
The finish is very good (Ibanez is really good at it!) I have seen guitars mid-high range in other brands that were less well finished.
Frankly, for the price you get a guitar that has all the characteristics required for a metal guitar with a great finish and great sound (provided you stick to the microphone for you).
I own several guitars (some much more expensive!) And yet this small RG-270DX has not blush before her friends more expensive option.
To consume without moderation Metal beginners ... and knowledgeable ('s enough to be outdone!)

in terms of mtal, if we simply make his doom may go for the rest, the output level microphones do not make big snapping rhythm.
I play on an amp with a set of Valveking diffrent effect pedals, and even a little hope it's worthy to name, unless it compensates with a good thing that colors the sound (in the like pod or ME50).
The violin is correct, the rest (acastillage, micro base, mechanical), the precision is not there you are.

I put 3, must not abuse even when

    OVERALL OPINION

I tried a lot of the MODEL that is probably not the worst, the price quality ratio is good because we have a good violin case, as long as you're broke and patient enough to invest long-term and small piece in this guitar, it remains a possible choice (I personally do it again, as it is with this guitar that I could have my notions Premire violin;)

I put 5 because the hack your scratching his cot should not necessarily to everyone

    UTILIZATION

Handle very accurate with a rope block of good quality. Be careful though to maintain, ca rust quickly and the flu is easily (especially when done with a lot of sweating)

Access to acute is very easy in any position in which you play (unless it is on your feet of course ...) and its weight is very reasonable in a easy guitar to practice.

The clean sound is not hot enough and it's a shame but in terms of saturation of a dry-amp has everything you need. Of the attack, a warm but drool when we do not know his address or micro amps!

Hint: Add a spring to floyd!

    SOUNDS

Practitioner of the emo-core is a guitar that has a heavy sound and then goes very well with one second more vintage guitar (like gibson sg in my case). Give preference to any time the rhythm ...

I play with a double body composed of a transistor and a head Hugues cabinet Marshall JCM 900 (1960)

On this point, the guitar is almost perfect for me

    OVERALL OPINION

A guitar experience, this is 8 years now I use it in rehearsal and in concert. It was very easy for me to choose this guitar has since that time, my amp was a bit musty.

I suggest you pay attention to this guitar but making the head start to learn to adjust the floyd and microphones.
