Sennheiser HD 380 Pro

The Sennheiser HD 380 Pro headphones are a set of headphones that can be collapsed for storage and transportation. The cord is able to come off and they come with a carrying case. The frequency response on these has been extended from previous models to really allow that bass to come through the way it is intended. I absolutely loved mixing with these because every time I mixed with them I would get a great sounding baseline.
They were very comfortable on my head, I have worn them for over 2 hours in one session before without even having to take them off or adjust them. The head band is adjustable and it was very comfortable. I was using these headphones for about 2 years and I actually still own them I just don’t use them as much as I use to. I recommend getting these though because they are an older model and can be purchase at a dirt cheap price right now online. But just because they are an older model does not mean they are not great! When they first came out everyone either had a pair of these or wanted a pair. You can get them now for around 100 bucks online, which is a steal.
The highs were very crisp and clean with warm mid tones to balance them out. They didn’t color the sound at all and exactly how the mix sounded is how they projected the sound. It was so easy to get a clean mix with them. Also with the extended frequency response on this model allowed the bass to come through them booming! The bass was very clean and low; I was able to mix those really low tones cleanly through this like I could through some of my better studio monitors. I never used the H 380 Pro headphones to listen to music with from my iPod but I am sure they would have sounded great. These are made for mixing engineers!

I went to the music store to check out some headphones, (before I decided to purchase the Sennheiser HD 380’s) I brought an mp3 player with different types of music all sampled at 320kbs - high quality stuff - and spent 90 minutes listening to the following headphones.

Here's how it went in listening order. Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80 - I went in thinking that I was going to walk out with these headphones based on what I had read, and they did sound good but they were first up so I had no frame of reference. Sennheiser HD 380 PRO - WOW, these beat the Beyer's hands down though I did go back and forth between the two of them with several types of music. Audio Technica ATH-M50 - Nice form factor and the critics love'em, however, to me they sounded cheap: lacked clarity, accurate tonal timbre, and soundstage. I did come back to them again but was reminded of their inferior sound quality each time. AKG K240 Studio - These are nice and a real bargain. Had I not needed sound isolating headphones I may have purchased these and saved a hundred bucks. These were number two in sound quality for me. Sennheiser HD 25-1 II - Very nice. These clamp on the ear and offer outstanding sound isolation but they don't have the soundstage of the HD 380s. I think they're intended primarily for session recording, and for that they would be very good. KRK KNS-8400 Studio Don't bother, even worse than the ATH-M50s. honorable mention: on my way out of the store I noticed the Shure SRH840 which are supposed to be good, but I didn't listen to them and I'm so happy with the Sennheisers I'm not worried about. Here are some great features: The Sennheisers fold flat and come with a great case. They also have a replaceable cable that plugs into the phones with standard 3.5mm jack.

It is not too tight with either.

The headphone is still solid, not at all fragille.

Good audio quality headphone & very good balance with & stereo.

A little over a month at home, not working almost exclusively with headphones, that's saying something if I tested a few, for now and for the price, this is the best I was in the hands (and ears). What I like the most? It is not wrong. Not disappointed, I can only advise.

Using home-studio engagement, mixing and more. Completely covers the ears and comfortable, light and strong, not tiring at all after hours, it is quickly forgotten.

It has good looks solid and I like his twisted cable (it no longer drags the ground), I've had a month so we will wait and see for degradation.

I had an Audio-tecnhica M30 and the difference and flagrant. I mix with, spring exactly my speakers. It is a happy discovery for me and a real pleasure. Great sound reproduction, good insulation, treble midrange and bass as I want.
