Laney LC50-112

I had Laney LC50 and sold it for tube sound.I got an AC15 and a bunch of pedals and played around but got frustrated with pedals because if I wanted to play many different styles I either had mess around with settings between (or during) songs. I missed just creating programs and saving them. So, I decided to get a VOX ToneLab ST for my tube amp and I ditched the pedal collection. I was itching to get a solid state for practice and jamming to save tube life for shows. Enter the Laney LC50 .

UTILIZATION

I turned it on and immediately remembered what I loved about the Laney LC50 , diversity. I also bought the FBV Express MKii and immediately downloaded "FX Infusion", a firmware update that adds a boat-load of new effects: 5 additional reverb types, a handful of overdrives (like the tube screamer) and more modulations/settings. There is also a free software application you get from the website that allows you link the amp (through the footswitch) into a computer and you can edit your the settings in a "visual" program like you would in Reason or PodFarm.


SOUNDS

Your changes update in real time as you play. The software application alone is well worth cost of the footswitch. Volume: I found the amp to be plenty loud. I have an VOX AC15 and the Laney LC50 is much louder. Now, I'm not going to compare it to a tube amp on tone or dynamics. I love tube amps but a tube amp is a one trick pony and if you want diversity you have to add pedals or effect units.


OVERALL OPINION

The Laney LC50 is a horse of many colors. For jamming and practicing with a band, this is perfect for me. For gigs, I'll use the AC15 and have the Laney LC50 as a backup. For the price, this amp is cutting edge fun

SOUNDS

I recently possde this amp (mine a 50 LC II) and I must admit it sounds in my expectancy at del ...
My style is more oriented blues-rock ...
On the clean channel, the sound is excellent, really! My stratocaster is rgale ...
The amp sounds, round lens once, there is everything you need, the rverbe is soft and natural ...
The Bright gniale is if you really want to add the "slamming" notes, extra notes a definition ...
I can not quite dcrire sound because to really understand one must listen, the ear does not deceive! For me what stands out most is the dynamics, nuances ... and he has what it takes!
Compared what I had in the past I think ct's, it was worth the ENGL screamer 50, better than the JTM 60 ... I do not compare her little ERRF the LC15R (not the same category ... amp) which is nevertheless a good little amp ... If nothing comparable either with a transistor (1000 performer: 100w )...!!! The classic 30 does not measure up either, the rest of the Twin Fender Twin and the rest REFERENCE ... but frankly its clear the LC 50 for me idalie II (the twin is too powerful PSE score a fortune and 2 tons ...!!!)
Saturation channel: good rock distortion typ ... lights, but not for metalheads forcment ... (unless you add the pedals ...), a range from lightweight crunch good big disto ... The sound and the lamp is on value for money ...!

OVERALL OPINION

This amp has a wonderful sound and an incredible ... EHJV used in the apartment, he will exploit in my opinion an all lamps 50w amp is made for the studio or scne ... (or at so if you live in the house) because it is necessary all the same push a little volume to get the best of the amp ... (especially saturated channel)
It's a nice can (it has a more sacred mouth) and is a reasonable weight (23kg) ...
The amp rating nine between 800 and 900 and ngoc occasion in between 500 and 600 according to the state ... which is cheap given its quality ... (title an example is a classic 30 ngoc between 400 and 500, but the sound is no comparison ...)

See more advice for prcises CHARACTERISTICS. Otherwise a well made amp, pretty neat. At home, a few buttons crachotent trs low volume nmais I think I have a problem of power tubes ... in short to say anything else.

UTILIZATION

No frills, like DJ said. However, a large BMOL: the legalization of sound! The knobs are virtually ineffective, both in its clear that his is a bit saturated inquitant. Otherwise, forget about using the house as you only use 10% of its capacity. It is to cry a little when even.
I do not really understand What was the effect knob (it just RULES volume effects you put in the loop): always back!

SOUNDS

Trs trs good sound clear prcis (forget Marshall), round lens, with the bright hope slamming switch ... a real treat with all the guitars I tried it.
The sound is not suitable saturated all styles of music: no mtal rock or too heavy (that's to complain?) But plutt classic rock sound (for me, winning 6 is perfect ) or lightweight crunch under 4 gain. So do not look for versatility with this amp.

OVERALL OPINION

I got a mouth on bread and I am quite pleased. The legalization of some, I am filled with the clear sound and power.
Exprience with (and money) I m'achterai plutt an Orange.
